I assume you have JDK 8 installed before, but JDK 11+ is required for VS Code Java. So this installer installed a JDK 11 for you, but for some reason failed to detect it after installation.

Can you run "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_261" -version in CMD, and paste the output here?
And please alsp attach %TEMP%\vscode-java-installer\log.txtfor more details.
