Similar issue: #98502 . That issue was closed because part of the requested functionality now exists (visual indication inside the VSCode window itself).
However, I still miss a way to let the terminal bell (0x07 aka BEL aka \a) trigger the urgency hint of the VSCode application, so that my window manager would highlight this application window, and its entry on the taskbar.
I'm using Linux with X11, but my understanding is that the concept of 'urgency hint' also exists in Windows.
My use case is that I have multiple windows open for different projects. I would trigger a long-running command like a compilation or long search in the terminal window, and meanwhile switch to another window to work on something else. I do not want to 'poll' all different windows with such running actions. Hence, I print '\a' after the command, so that the bell would trigger, and I want to window to be highlighted so that I can see that something has finished, and _which window and which desktop-manager workspace contains that. With an audio signal, I cannot differentiate which window triggered the bell.
I think this option would fit will inside the existing VSCode Settings: "Accessibility -> Signals : Terminal Bell".
