Custom agents disappear and reappear in v1.126

Out of the blue suddenly all my custom agents just disappeared. The only agent listed was "Agent".

I restarted several VS Code instances to no avail. Then suddenly they came back.

This just happened again. All my custom agents disappeared. Moreover I am no longer able to submit a prompt — hitting Enter does nothing.

I restarted VS Code and the agents came back, and I was able to hit Enter again to submit a prompt.

This is still an issue in v1.128, and it's weird: if I restart VS Code, some times during startup I'll immediately click "Agent" and see the appropriate list, but then a few seconds later I'll click "Agent" again and they will be gone! Then after another restart, the opposite happened: first they were gone, then after a few seconds they showed up.

Please raise the priority of this ticket. This is still happening and it impedes work.

Same issue. It's very annoying.

Also, I'm using OpenRouter for BYOK and the model selector sometimes disappears as well, only showing 'Auto'.

Reproducible steps would be helpful. Is it happening while in the middle of a conversation?
This is with the Local harness in the VS Code editor window (not the agent window), correct?

This is still happening. As @cheuyin mentioned, it's annoying, not to mention getting in the way of productivity when I have to restart VS Code.

This feels like something that isn't easily reproducible, like some edge case or race condition.

By "in the middle of a conversation" do you mean "when VS Code GitHub Copilot is waiting for me to enter a prompt"? If so, then yes.

If you mean "in the middle of GitHub Copilot producing a response", I really can't say, because normally I don't try to change agents while a response is being generated. (Part of the reason I don't try this is because I'm trying not to disturb all the other bugs related to prompt submission/editing, such as #325447 and #327649. Plus once a while ago I've even seen that changing a model on an unsubmitted prompt changes the in-progress model. The entire "prompt submission" process seems buggy and brittle, rather than a robust, rational request queue submission process. So I try not to muck with it just to get by.)
