I am primarily a Python guy, I write Python code, including documentation for them. Sometimes I have to generate documentation using Sphinx, which understands rst by default (it supports markdown, but that's a different story).
The rst syntax highlighting is currently available with extensions but installing an extension just for syntax highlighting would be overkill for me.
VSCode already has syntax highlighting support for markdown. I understand rst is not used by vast majority of developers, but it would be great to have support for ReStructuredText by default.
