Ongaku v0.1.48
[0.1.48] - 2026-10-22
Safer tool installation
- The helper tools used for YouTube (yt-dlp and ffmpeg) are now downloaded only from their official sources and checked against published fingerprints before they're installed.
- Installation is safer and more reliable, and the app verifies the tools again before each use.
Protection against very large or stuck requests
- YouTube playlists are limited to 500 songs per request.
- Downloads are limited to 1 GB per song, and requests that take too long are stopped automatically with retries.
Smaller visual fix
- Playlist creation card now behaves like a regular button, with the same look and keyboard shortcut.
- The animated layer on the album cover has a softer blur.

Ongaku v0.1.45
[0.1.45] - 2026-10-21
Smoother window dragging
- Using the search bar in the command palette (Ctrl+K) or the library header buttons no longer accidentally moves the window.
Glass-style look restored
- Cards, table headers, and song panels have a frosted-glass effect again, so the wallpaper shows through more clearly and text stays readable.
Better audio visualizer
- The bars over the album cover in "Now Playing" now have better contrast, whether you use light or dark mode.
Under the hood
- The interface and styling were moved into shared packages, so the upcoming web version can reuse them.
- Documentation was updated to reflect the new project structure and commands.
Ongaku v0.1.44
[0.1.44] - 2026-10-21
YouTube streaming
- Clicking a YouTube song multiple times no longer restarts or interrupts it while it's loading. The first click starts playback, and extra clicks are ignored until it's ready.
- Selecting a different song while one is loading still works normally.
Window and headers
- You can now drag the window by any empty area of the top bar, and double-click it to maximize or restore.
- Song and playlist headers handle long names better, with truncated breadcrumbs and simplified layouts on small screens.
- The table header is more accessible for screen readers.
Fixes
- Fixed the Ongaku logo not showing in the installed version of the app.
Ongaku v0.1.43
[0.1.43] - 2026-10-21
New window design
- The app now uses its own custom title bar instead of the system's default window frame, for a more modern look.
- Minimize, maximize/restore, and close buttons are built into the top bar, and the close button turns red on hover.
- You can drag the window by its top bar, and it has a minimum size so the layout never breaks.
- The sidebar header now shows the Ongaku logo and lines up with the top bar.
Consistent page headers
- All pages now share the same top bar design, with no more duplicated headers.
Open source
- Ongaku is now released under the MIT License.
Ongaku v0.1.42
[0.1.42] - 2026-10-20
Now Playing fixes
- Smoother cover transitions when switching songs, with no visual cut-off or glitches in the production app.
- Slightly faster transition animation.
- Fixed an issue where the cover animation could break when moving between songs.
Ongaku v0.1.41
Changelog
[0.1.41] - 2026-10-20
Live audio visualizer
- The "Now Playing" screen now shows a real-time bar visualizer that reacts to the music, for both local and streaming songs.
- The visualizer pauses when you leave the screen and respects reduced-motion settings for users who prefer less animation.
Download queue
- Download cards now share one consistent design, with clear states for downloading, uploading, completed, warning, and error.
- A new warning state appears when a download fails due to a network issue.
- Completed downloads link directly to their destination playlist.
Settings
- Settings options (theme, player position, folder colors, wallpapers, and blur) now use a unified, more consistent design.
- New "None" option for wallpaper blur, which fully turns off the blur effect.
- Wallpaper cards show a clear selected state, with a delete button that appears on hover.
- Setting cards have a slightly stronger shadow and frosted-glass effect.
Navigation
- Press Escape on the "Now Playing" screen to go back.
- The album cover on the "Now Playing" screen has a smooth 3D tilt effect.
- Page headers are more transparent and blend better with your wallpaper.
Ongaku v0.1.40
[0.1.40] - 2026-10-19
New "Now Playing" screen
- New full-screen view for the song you're listening to, available from the local player, the playlist header, and the active song in a list.
- The background takes its color from the album cover, and the cover slides when you move to the next or previous song.
- Hover over the cover for a 3D tilt effect and a play/pause button.
- A breadcrumb shows the current playlist and song, and an empty state appears when nothing is playing.
Download queue
- The download queue is redesigned with cards for each status (queued, downloading, completed, error).
- Shows progress, downloaded size, and destination playlist, with a summary of active, queued, completed, and failed tasks.
- You can clear finished downloads in one click.
- The list is faster with large queues.
Faster lists and search
- Songs lists, library search, and YouTube search respond more quickly, especially with large libraries.
- Library counters animate when they appear.
Visual refinements
- New animated rainbow button for starting downloads and for batch actions in YouTube search.
- Dialogs now come in small, medium, and large sizes.
- Wallpapers display cleanly, without the dot pattern overlay. You can also choose "None" for blur.
- Crimson theme has slightly softer rounded corners.
- The library section is now simply called "Library" (or "Biblioteca" in Spanish).
Under the hood
- Added automated tests for main navigation and pages.
- Removed an unused sidebar element.
Ongaku v0.1.39
[0.1.39] - 2026-10-19
Faster, more reliable app
- Pages now load their data earlier, so switching between Playlists and Settings feels more immediate.
- Song and playlist data is now managed in a cleaner, more organized way behind the scenes, which makes the app easier to maintain and update.
Search button
- All search bars (library, playlists, songs in a playlist, and YouTube search) now share the same button.
- On desktop it shows the placeholder or your current search and the ⌘K shortcut; on mobile it shrinks to a compact icon to save space.
- Page headers are slightly more readable thanks to a soft frosted background when you scroll.
Under the hood
- Backend code was reorganized into smaller, focused modules, making future updates faster and less error-prone.
- Unused design files were removed from the project.
