Will be "fixed" in commit 78f78fe with the next git push.
You will have to provide api-key & user-id from your account's Options page, though

There's something I might be doing wrong, I'm not +sure if I understand what I'm doing.

I added

"rule34":

    "api-key": null, 
    "user-id": null
},

into my gallery-dl.conf file
I go to the rule34.xxx option menu and the Api Credentials say: &api_key=&user_id=2
I check the "Generate New Key?" checkmark and click save. Page reload but everything remains the same. I have no new numbers to replace into my .conf file
Am I suppossed to write a random number after the "api_key=" before clicking on the checkmark?

Apologizes if its a stupid question, my knowledge on codding is very basic. I'm willing to learn

I am on the latest dev version, and I also put my credentials in the same way, but it's not working for me either. This is what my rule34 entry looks like:

These options need to be in extractor.rule34, but yours look like they are in extractor.gelbooru_v02.rule34, i.e. in an instance definition.

Maybe you just need to wait a bit and try again, not sure. I've registered like 3 new accounts over the past couple days and all of them were able to immediately generate a new API key as described in https://gdl-org.github.io/docs/configuration.html#extractor-rule34-api-key-user-id
