What's new in MacCam 1.0.13

  • Unplug a camera, keep shooting. When a webcam is unplugged or your iPhone disconnects, MacCam switches to another camera instead of showing a black picture.
  • Knock only listens when MacCam is in front. In the background the microphone stays off, so a clap in someone else's meeting never takes a photo. Switching to AirPods or another mic no longer stops it.
  • Safer license links and updates. A sign-in link from someone else now asks before it changes your license, and MacCam only installs updates that are really newer.
  • Cleaner welcome screen.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.12

  • Your voice stays on your Mac. The Teleprompter follows your voice only with on-device speech recognition – nothing is ever uploaded. Where a Mac can't do that for your language, it scrolls at a constant pace.
  • The license form now offers news about new Pro features.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.11 – MacCam Pro is here

  • Teleprompter. Switch to Video and click Teleprompter: your script scrolls right under the camera and follows your voice. Nobody on a call or screen recording sees it.
  • Knock, clap or snap to capture. Knock twice on your MacBook or the desk, clap or snap twice – MacCam takes the photo or starts the video.
  • Both are part of MacCam Pro – free for life for the first 100,000 people who confirm their email.
  • Edge Light turns off again when you click it, and the confirmation code screen now appears the moment you click.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.10

  • Reset in one click. When a style or effect is on, a small button at the top right shows its name – click it to get the original picture back.
  • Sliders get out of the way. Click anywhere in the picture to hide the Portrait, Studio Light or Edge Light slider; click the effect again to bring it back.
  • Better on macOS 15. The camera name next to the shutter is centred, and the Pro card follows your pointer again.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.9

  • Tidier controls on macOS 15. The camera picker next to the shutter is a compact button again instead of a bar across the whole window.
  • Edge Light tells you what it needs. On Macs older than macOS 26.2, tap Edge Light to see why it is unavailable and jump straight to Software Update.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.8

  • Installs itself. Open MacCam from wherever it landed – Downloads, the Desktop or the installer – and it moves itself into Applications with one click, replaces an older copy and starts again from there.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.7

What's new in MacCam 1.0.6

  • Calmer start. The welcome screen, the permission tips and the Pro pass no longer fly in from the corner – only their icon animates.
  • Clean viewer in light mode. Videos no longer show black bars next to white pages while you swipe.

What's new in MacCam 1.0.5

  • Signed and notarized by Apple. MacCam now opens like any app from the App Store – no more "Open Anyway" in System Settings. macOS may ask once more for camera, microphone and Photos access.
  • Zoom like Photos. Double-click zooms right where you click and glides back when you double-click again; pinch zooms around the pointer.
  • Faster paging. Swipe between photos and videos with a small gap between them – the next one shows up as soon as you start swiping.
  • Smoother effects panel. The strength slider slides in and out instead of making the panel jump.
  • Polished Pro pass. No more flash on the lifetime card.
