What changed

• Model, effort and permissions are three chips. The one pill under the composer ("Fable · High · Auto") is now three: the model with its provider's mark, the reasoning effort, and the permissions. Each opens its own list above the composer, so what you typed and the send button stay where they were. The model chip opens a menu with the providers across the top while a new thread may still change provider, a search line, and the list; once a thread has sent, it lists its own provider's models. Escape closes a list and puts you back on the chip. The New thread dialog's model field shows the provider mark and opens the same menu.
• The Threads sidebar is on every page. Dictate, History and Help now have the same thread list beside them, with the same top row and foot, so a thread is one press away from anywhere. Settings and Chats keep their own column and take the sidebar's top row and foot; the word links in their footers are gone, and the foot's icons, the room switch and the update control take their place.
• A finished thread asks for attention from any page. The finished ring marks a thread that finished while no pane showed it, which now includes every page other than Threads, and clears once the thread is on screen.
• Terminal mode can settle a project. The project head in Terminal mode offers Settle project (Restore project once settled), the same command the thread list offers.
• Folder actions sit on the head row. New thread here, New terminal and Settle project are centred on the folder head in both modes.

macOS (Apple Silicon)

Sotto-0.1.6-arm64.dmg is Apple silicon only; Intel Macs are not supported. The disk image is built and uploaded from the Mac build machine and may appear after the Windows installer. The Mac build does not include the auto-updater, so updates stay manual.

The Mac build is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so the first launch may be blocked by Gatekeeper. Either:

• open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway, or
• run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Sotto.app in Terminal.

Fixes

• A thread follows whatever branch its worktree has checked out. 0.1.4 refused every message to a thread whose worktree had moved to another branch ("The working folder or branch no longer matches this thread"), and the only way back was a git command. A thread now records the branch it finds, shows nothing for a detached HEAD, and refuses a message only when the folder has stopped being its own worktree: deleted, moved, replaced or locked. Retry setup follows the same rule, so the two can no longer disagree. Nothing in your branches is touched.

A fix for 0.1.3 dying on launch once a thread's history grew long.

Running 0.1.3, 0.1.2 or 0.1.1 on Windows? The update control at the right end of the sidebar offers this release within a few minutes of launch. Press it to download, press it again to restart into the installer. If 0.1.3 no longer opens at all, install from the file below; your threads and settings are kept.

Fixes

• Sotto opens again with long thread histories. 0.1.3 read every Claude thread's transcript at startup and published a full workspace snapshot for every line it read, so a few thousand lines of history exhausted the main process's memory about ten seconds after launch, before any window appeared. A transcript now publishes once per read. Nothing in your history changes.

The Threads page

• Figtree, at a quieter scale. Sotto's UI face is now Figtree, bundled with the app. Threads type is 13px for controls, 15px for the transcript with more leading, headings 18/16/15, and bold text is bold by weight rather than by turning white.
• Send and Stop are one disc. At the end of the composer row, an arrow sends, a list-plus queues a prompt behind a working turn, and a square stops. The full name stays in each button's label and tooltip.
• Split composers line up. Compaction status and the usage figures share one row under the composer, so a compacted pane no longer sits higher than its neighbour.
• New terminal is a plus, not a second terminal glyph beside the Threads | Terminal switch.

Fixes

• The pane layout controls (zoom, show all, close) take a click again in a split. The pane header doubled as the window's drag handle and covered them, so a click moved the window instead.
• The microphone test card in Settings and onboarding shows the same level meter the widget and Dictate use, and the Settings card stacks in its narrow column.

The first beta. Sotto opens on the Threads page, which has been cleaned up for daily work, and the features that are not ready ship switched off rather than half on.

The Threads page

• Less chrome, more room. The sidebar carries the window controls, the Dictate | Threads switch and the page links in its foot, so the strip and footer are gone from the page. Each pane header keeps one More actions menu.
• Threads | Terminal beside the + button. The icon segment switches the sidebar between threads and terminals where you make new ones.
• A usage line that says two things. Context used and estimated cost. The context tooltip says how much of the window a thread has used.
• The Sotto look. A palette of Sotto's own is the default theme in light and dark; the earlier themes remain in Settings → Appearance.
• Keyboard and screen readers. Arrow keys walk the room switch, sidebar rows describe their state, the More actions menu closes on Escape, and Thread options is a named dialog.

Switched off for the beta

• Voice. The Agents room, the wake phrase, spoken hints, the voice settings, Talk controls and "let Sotto manage" are hidden. Dictation never depended on them and works as before.
• Memory. The Memory page, the working-preferences questionnaire and remembered preferences in agent turns are hidden. Anything already remembered is kept for when it returns.

Fixes

• The onboarding Test microphone button sits on its own row again instead of overlapping Continue.
• The layout controls in a pane header and the "Preparing agent controls" screen no longer act as a window drag handle.
• In tab mode the tab strip, not the shown pane, keeps the window controls' room.

Sotto's release history starts here. Earlier releases have been removed; this is the one to install.

If you run 3.6.0, 3.7.0 or 0.1.0 on Windows, install this one from the file below. Versions before 0.1.1 used an older updater that checks a few times a day and shows a banner; 3.x builds never offer a lower version number at all. Run the installer once; it installs over your current copy and keeps your settings, history and threads. From 0.1.1 onwards, updates arrive in the app.

Updates, the way T3 Code does them

• An update control in the footer. The small round button at the right end of the footer is the one place updates show up. Idle it checks; when a release is found it turns into a download glyph with a dot; a progress ring runs while the installer downloads; a restart glyph waits once it is on disk. Hover it and it says exactly what a press will do.
• Checked within minutes. The installed Windows app checks fifteen seconds after launch and every four minutes after that, so a new release is offered while you work rather than hours later. The check stays under Settings → Application → Check for updates automatically.
• Nothing happens behind your back. No download until you press the control, and no install when you quit. Restarting asks first: Install update X and restart Sotto?, because the restart interrupts dictation and agent work. Confirm and Sotto closes, installs silently, and opens again on the new version.
• When something goes wrong, the same button tries again. A failed check, download or install keeps its place and its reason, and a short notice says what happened.
• Read more. Once a download lands, the notice links to the release page.
• Check for Updates… in the tray menu (and the macOS application menu) presses the same control from outside the window.
