v1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 19:50

What is new in 1.5.0

Added

  • VS Code extension: a chat window of its own. The Chat view in the
MindConnect container (⌘⌥M / Ctrl+Alt+M, or as an editor tab) talks to the
agent without Copilot — it works in VSCodium and Cursor too, and when a
Copilot quota is used up. Streaming Markdown, tool and sub-agent cards,
approval buttons, Stop, New chat, and a chip naming the file and selection
    that go with the message.

Fixed

  • VS Code extension: @mindconnect knows the open file even when the
    chat tab hides it.
With the chat as a tab in the same editor group, clicking
it put the file out of sight, and the chat went out with only the workspace
folder — "which file is open?" got a guess. The last file you were in now
counts as long as it is still open, and "also open" lists every file tab,
    hidden ones included.

Added

  • The VS Code extension comes with every release as
mindconnect-vscode-<version>.vsix, next to the installers — install it
with Install from VSIX… or code --install-extension, no Marketplace
needed. Its version now follows the release's.

MindConnect Admin Launcher

A small desktop app that runs the MindConnect agent server: download a
released server from Maven Central, pick a version, configure the
environment (encryption key included), start / stop — and jump straight
into the Admin UI in your browser.

…-<platform>-all.jar Any OS with a Java 21+ runtime: java -jar <file>
mindconnect-vscode-<version>.vsix The VS Code extension — see below

The installers bundle their own Java runtime — nothing to install first.

macOS: "Apple could not verify …"

The app is not yet notarized with Apple, so the first launch is blocked by
Gatekeeper. Two ways around it:

  1. System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down to
"MindConnect Admin Launcher was blocked …" → Open Anyway
(the dialog's own buttons only offer Move to Trash / Done — use the
    settings path instead), or
  2. use the jar instead — java -jar mindconnect-admin-launcher-<version>-mac-aarch64-all.jar
needs no Gatekeeper exception (requires a Java 21+ runtime, e.g.
    brew install temurin@21), or
  3. remove the quarantine flag once:
    xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/MindConnect Admin Launcher.app"

Notarized builds are on the roadmap.

MindConnect for VS Code

mindconnect-vscode-<version>.vsix runs the MindConnect server locally and
brings its agents into the VS Code chat as @mindconnect — with the file,
selection and folder you are working in; changes come as diffs you accept or
reject. Not on the Marketplace yet; install the file directly:

  • VS Code → Extensions view → ⋯ → Install from VSIX…, or
  • code --install-extension mindconnect-vscode-<version>.vsix

Then reload the window (Developer: Reload Window). The extension needs a
Java 21+ runtime for the server it runs.

v1.4.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Sep 13:23

What is new in 1.4.0

Added

  • VS Code extension (typescript/mc-vscode, skeleton — not published yet).
It runs the MindConnect server locally (the Admin UI app's jar from Maven
Central, SHA-512 checked, Java 21, bound to 127.0.0.1) and brings the agents
into the VS Code chat as @mindconnect, knowing the workspace folder, file,
selection and problems you are looking at. The agent changes files through
VS Code: every change opens as a diff you accept or reject, and an accepted
one lands on the editor buffer, so undo and unsaved edits keep working. A
MindConnect view in the activity bar lets you pick the server jar, Java and
environment — API keys go to the OS keychain — and opens the Admin UI as an
editor tab without an address bar.

v1.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Sep 12:17

What is new in 1.3.0

Added

  • Amethyst is the launcher's look. Violet on a dark ground, with the same
values the admin web UI's default theme uses, so the launcher and the admin
UI it opens read as one product. Scroll bars, tooltips and popups go dark
with it. The light looks are still there behind -Dlauncher.theme=clody
(or MC_LAUNCHER_THEME=clody) and -Dlauncher.theme=default for the
    framework's own.

Changed

  • The Versions tab is three tabs now: Maven Central, Snapshots, Local.
Central lists the releases, Snapshots only the snapshot channels, and Local
is new: the server builds in this machine's Maven repository (~/.m2) — what
mvn install in a server checkout left behind, newest first. Install
copies the executable jar into the launcher's home; a version with only the
plain jar is resolved with Maven, which works offline.
  • Build times in the version lists read 09-03 15:12 instead of the full
ISO timestamp — the year is noise in a list of rolling builds.

v1.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Sep 18:37

What is new in 1.2.0

Added

  • The launcher lists every branch's snapshot channel. The server now
publishes one pre-release per branch — snapshot for main, snapshot-<branch>
for the rest — and the version list shows them all: main's first, then the
branches newest build first, each with its branch, commit and build time.
A branch build is for trying a fix before it is merged; it never becomes the
version Start picks on its own. When GitHub's API cannot be asked, the list
falls back to main's channel, as before.
  • Kill next to Stop. Stop still asks the server to shut down cleanly and
waits up to 15 seconds before forcing it. Kill sits beside it, armed once
Stop is under way, and ends the server right away.
  • A Remote tab, switched off by default. The home end of the mobile relay:
configure the Firebase connector, start and stop it, watch its log — it runs
inside the launcher for as long as the window is open. It needs a Firebase
project of your own, so it only appears when asked for: start the launcher
    with --remote, -Dlauncher.remote=true or MC_LAUNCHER_REMOTE=true.
  • Persistence settings in the Environment tab. MC_PERSISTENCE as a choice
between file and postgres, plus the postgres connection — URL, user,
password — as named fields instead of lines in "Additional variables".

Changed

  • Start and Stop no longer hold the window behind a spinner. A first Start
downloads the build in the background while the status line and the log
show what is happening; Stop waits in the background too, which is what
    makes room for Kill.

v1.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Aug 07:05

What is new in 1.1.0

Changed

  • The clients render on semantic-ui 0.2.0. The released sheet with the
spacing/type scale and row alignment work — ahead of the released parent's
0.1.3 pin, via an override that goes away when the next parent release
    catches up.

Added

  • Clody, a warm look for the launcher. Start it with
    -Dlauncher.theme=clody (or MC_LAUNCHER_THEME=clody) for bone-and-clay
neutrals instead of the default cool-slate scale, at one type size up. It is
the desktop half of the theme the admin web UI ships, so the two read as the
same product. Without the flag nothing changes.

  • The launcher can install development builds. Next to the releases from
Maven Central, the version list now offers the current snapshot from the
server's rolling snapshot pre-release, with the commit and build time it
came from. Because a snapshot keeps its version while the build behind it
moves on, Download fetches it again even when that version is already
    installed.

  • Snapshots arrive as a single executable jar, so installing one no longer
needs a local Maven to resolve a few hundred dependency files.

  • The chat answers approval requests. When a tool needs a human, the
transcript shows a card with the call and its arguments and three ways out:
deny, allow once, allow for the rest of the conversation. Questions raised
while no window was open are loaded when the conversation is opened, so a
restart no longer strands a waiting agent.

  • The chat reattaches to a running answer. Opening a conversation that is
being answered right now — by a window that was closed, or a second client —
follows that turn to its end instead of showing a transcript that stops
    mid-thought.

Both need a server that has the endpoints, which means a snapshot build or
anything after 0.0.2. Against an older server the chat notices they are
missing and carries on without them.

Changed

  • Starting without an explicitly chosen version still launches the newest
release — the snapshot heads the list but is never what you land on by
    accident.
