- Translation and summary prompts now emphasize complete sentences, genre-appropriate prose, source-grounded summaries, consistent established names and specialist terminology. Translation checkpoints use a new prompt identity; saved book results remain intact.
- Processing shows model startup/input preparation separately from generation. Press / to hear the current stage, percentage to one decimal place and elapsed seconds. Startup and processing errors are announced and remain queryable.
- Model downloads are owned by the application and continue after Settings closes. Quitting the application stops transfers; restart the download to resume retained data.
- Advanced downloads retain partial files and verify completed files when resuming. Incomplete downloads can be deleted from model management. Deletion remains blocked until the active transfer has closed its files.
- Download speed is displayed, and / reports background download status. Progress callbacks are throttled and stale callbacks cannot overwrite a completed transfer.
- Nine interface languages include the new download and startup labels.
- Software-only distribution: no model weights bundled. Low, Mid, High and Advanced are optional downloads; Apple OCR remains available without downloaded model weights.
Validation: 181 regression cases, 40 explicit opt-in cases skipped, remaining passed; additional terminal-generation regression added and run separately. Real High model English/Chinese/French excerpts and English summary generated successfully. Short cases took about 1.5–2.4 seconds on the developer Mac; this is not a cold-start or long-chapter performance guarantee. MLX runtime rebuilt successfully.
Known limitations: Prompt changes do not eliminate all model errors. In particular, unaided short-passage evaluation still produced inaccurate kinship terms and unfamiliar names. Do not describe translation as professionally verified or claim four-model quality benchmarks; only High was available for real inference in this round. Advanced's lifecycle protocol was checked using worker fixtures; no new real Advanced weight download was made.
Command-Escape: user reports intermittent failure in processed content. Automated Command-Escape did return to Library, but the user's physical-key failure is not yet reproduced or resolved. A bounded Escape-only local diagnostic was added (no book text or other keys; no VoiceOver settings changed). Do not announce this as fixed.
