heyy!! mir-co here. this update fixes the last critical sharpdroid-only bug i found while testing Dreaming Sarah! which makes it a milestone for sharpdroid: we have apparently reached parity with SharpEmu on PC in terms of correctness. at least when scoped to running Dreaming Sarah on a Snapdragon 8 Elite.

known issues

please approach this first release with tempered expectations. sharpdroid is not quite usable yet. it still suffers from a few issues that prevent any game from being properly playable:

still missing

  • touch controls
  • manual controller mapping
  • guest process pause and resume
  • emulation frontend support

features

the feature set is still relatively small, but will grow over time. here is what sharpdroid ships with today:

  • emulation
    • a SharpEmu build manager
    • multiple FEXCore presets
    • host processor instruction set probing
    • physical controller support
  • graphics
    • a graphics driver manager and mesa turnip driver injection
  • app
    • a game list
    • a game folder manager and SAF game directory picking
    • an optional all files access permission toggle, for potentially better game file read performance
    • per-game settings
    • cache based game loading progress estimation
    • a back button overlay with a Log window and an Exit game button
    • a user data manager
    • cache based game loading progress estimation
    • multiple themes to choose from

tested hardware

the project is built to work on an AYN Odin 3 Max running android 15, with its Snapdragon 8 Elite, Adreno 830, and 16GB RAM. that being said, Dreaming Sarah is confirmed to perform surprisingly well on an AYN Thor running android 13, with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
