DoW — Connected DuckDB 0.3.0
Connect your apps to DuckDB with standard PostgreSQL drivers, or use native Quack. This release includes verified TLS, SCRAM accounts, read/write access rules and the read-only Neon postgres_fdw tutorial.
Explore tables and run real queries with the included Flask playground. It reuses authenticated connections and keeps them ready between visits. A runnable top-prices query shows how to get the same results with less work.
The same source commit passed 106 native/bootstrap checks, the actual FDW SQL tutorial, stock-driver examples, concurrent workloads and Docker tests on AMD64 and ARM64. Checksums and source pins are included.
The native binary is for Ubuntu 24.04 on x86-64-v3 CPUs. For ARM64, use Docker or build from the included source. Queries run in DuckDB; full PostgreSQL SQL/catalog/ORM compatibility is not promised.
DuckOnWire 0.2.0-rc.5
DuckOnWire 0.2.0-rc.5
DuckDB on the server. Your usual database driver on the client.
One native C++ owner shares a persistent database through ordinary PostgreSQL drivers or paired Quack protocol 7. PostgreSQL clients leave DuckDB installations unchanged. HTTPFS and Quack are built in.
Protected access supports verified TLS, SCRAM-SHA-256 and username/password accounts with database-wide read/write permissions. Local mode uses a shared password. Connection tutorials, ten language examples, AGENTS.md and the public Argentina/Spain product demo with synthetic prices are included.
Ten PostgreSQL languages passed on macOS; C/Python/Node passed on Linux. See the executable tutorial and native Linux qualification.
Node pg, actual client VALUES, four writers and four read-only readers:
| Platform | Client rows | Commits | Rows/s | Mean mixed reads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple M1 Pro | 2,000,000 | 2,000 | 313,781 | 5.24 ms |
| Ubuntu GitHub Actions | 100,000 | 100 | 25,831 | 46.57 ms |
Each batch sends 1,000 three-integer rows over loopback TLS; timing includes client construction, transport and confirmed commits, excluding authentication/setup/final checks. Exact checksums and complex results passed in-session. Different hardware and row counts prevent direct comparison; no WAN guarantees.
Experimental MIT prerelease: macOS ARM64 and Linux x86-64-v3 (Ubuntu 24.04/glibc 2.39); Windows server unqualified. Supported PostgreSQL protocol/types do not imply complete PostgreSQL catalogs, roles, ORM or COPY compatibility.

DuckOnWire 0.2.0-rc.4 — native DuckDB and Quack
DuckOnWire provides native DuckDB read/write access from multiple processes through a C++ owner server and Quack CONNECT. HTTPFS and Quack are built in; clients use genuine DuckDB connections, typed prepared statements and independent transactions.
This is an experimental prerelease based on DuckDB v2.1.0-dev0 and Quack protocol 7.

a6e7cb9243ee3d7ec0e5371b720be3292a32061f. - Source archive and native C/C++ bundles for macOS ARM64 and Ubuntu 24.04 Linux x86-64-v3, with manifests and SHA-256 checksums. The other eight language bindings require separate pairing.
- Public demo: 46,462 products from Argentina and Spain, manufacturer brands, synthetic prices, and no retailer/private-label data.
- Own code is MIT licensed. Third-party notices are included.
Fresh qualification passed on both platforms: native21, transaction flow14, bootstrap17, installed-package acceptance, and independent archive/source/hash/privacy review. Each benchmark mode inserted 2,000,000 rows in 80 committed batches with four writers and four readers; every reader made progress during writes, and counts/checksums persisted after reopening. Reads include joins, aggregation and latest-price window queries.
| Platform | Mode | Insert rows/s | Mean mixed read latency |
|---|---|---|---|
| macOS 26 ARM64 | Embedded | 1,477,519 | 28.49 ms |
| macOS 26 ARM64 | Quack loopback | 1,500,866 | 29.10 ms |
| Ubuntu 24.04 x86-64-v3 | Embedded | 1,249,418 | 33.06 ms |
| Ubuntu 24.04 x86-64-v3 | Quack loopback | 854,892 | 49.10 ms |
These measurements use typed prepared INSERT SELECT range batches and loopback networking. They are hardware-dependent observations; per-row INSERT throughput and WAN latency are not measured. Complete query latencies, hardware and persistence checks are in benchmark-macos.json and benchmark-linux.json. Historical ten-language results remain separate from this fresh C/C++ package qualification.
The Linux bundle requires x86-64-v3, glibc 2.39, libcurl 4 and OpenSSL 3 (qualified on Ubuntu 24.04). The macOS bundle was qualified on macOS 26 ARM64.
