Hue Ambi 0.3.0
First public release.
Native Philips Hue ambilight for Kodi on the Raspberry Pi 5. A Rust engine reads the decoded video straight from the display controller (Kodi's Direct To Plane renderer) and streams one colour per light of a Hue entertainment area over the Entertainment API, 50 times per second.
- Each light takes the colour of the part of the picture it faces, from its position in the entertainment area.
- HDR10 aware (PQ decoded to linear light, BT.2020 → BT.709, soft highlight roll-off).
- About 0.13 ms of CPU per update, 0.6 % of one core.
- Turn ambilight off for one video: a remote colour key (blue by default) or Play without ambilight in the context menu.
- Engine without
unsafecode; UI in English and French.
Requirements: Raspberry Pi 5, LibreELEC 12.x (Kodi 21), Direct To Plane render method, a Hue bridge (v2 API) with an entertainment area.
Install: download service.hueambi-0.3.0.zip below, then in Kodi Settings → Add-ons → Install from zip file. Configure it from Add-ons → My add-ons → Services → Hue Ambi: pair with the bridge, then choose the entertainment area.
