Kureedo 0.4.3
Name table only: manufacturer and designer read mkpoli, vendor and designer URLs point to https://mkpo.li, and the copyright line credits the historical glyphs to mkpoli. Glyphs, metrics and features are unchanged from 0.4.2.
Kureedo 0.4.2
The handakuten on the full-size Ainu bases セ゚ ツ゚ ト゚ カ゚ キ゚ ク゚ ケ゚ コ゚.
- Each ring now starts where Klee One places the dakuten on the same letter (ゼ ヅ ド ガ ギ グ ゲ ゴ), shifted by the small offset Klee's own handakuten keeps from its dakuten on ハ–ホ, and is pushed away from the letter until it has プ's clearance (24 units). ク゚'s ring no longer sits inside the letter's height and ト゚'s no longer hangs far to the right; the others move by 10–30 units.
scripts/mark_positions.pyderives the positions;check.pyasserts the clearance.- Small kana and ㇷ゚ are unchanged from 0.4.1.
Kureedo 0.4.1
Stroke weight of the Ainu small kana ㇰ–ㇿ and of the scaled handakuten in ㇷ゚.
- Klee One's own small kana keep 0.89–0.95 of the full-size stroke (median 0.92); 0.4.0's target of 0.9 came out at 0.88–0.90 because the dilation adds a little less than its nominal amount once corners round. 0.4.1 targets 0.92 and solves the dilation radius on the measured result, so every small kana sits at 0.92 ± 0.01 of its full-size letter.
- The dilation is checked against the source's contour count and its radius nudged when the union degenerates (a counter could merge into the outer contour at isolated radii).
- Placement, size and everything else are unchanged from 0.4.0.
Kureedo 0.4.0
The Ainu small kana ㇰ–ㇿ (U+31F0–31FF) now follow Klee One's own small-kana convention, and ㇷ゚ sits the way プ does.
- Small kana at 78% of the full-size letter (was 65%), centred on the baseline instead of pushed to the lower right, with the stroke weight restored to 0.9 of the full-size stroke, as Klee's ッ and ァ keep it. In vertical text they take a
vertvariant shifted up and to the right. - The handakuten of ㇷ゚ is scaled with the letter and placed where プ places its own: 71 units right and 39 above the small letter's top-right corner, 19 units clear of the stroke (プ's clearance scaled). Until now the full-size circle floated at its full-size position above the small フ.
- The settings were chosen by blind comparison rounds against Klee's own small kana in attested Ainu text; the ballots and each candidate's parameters are in
docs/votes/pu/, the method indocs/methods.md.
ネ, ヰ, , and every Klee One glyph are unchanged from 0.3.0.
Kureedo 0.3.0 — Unicode 18.0 code points
Unicode 18.0 (released 2026-09-16) encodes the two letters this font was drawing as alternates:
- U+1B127 KATAKANA LETTER ALTERNATE NE
- U+1B128 KATAKANA LETTER ALTERNATE WI
Both are now in the font's cmap, so text encoded with the new code points renders without any feature. The same glyphs remain the hist/ss01/cv01/cv02 alternates of ネ and ヰ, which is what text encoded with the ordinary letters — keeping search, sorting and copy working in software that predates Unicode 18 — should continue to use. They are separate letters from 子 U+5B50 and 井 U+4E95 and have no decomposition.
Glyphs and everything else are unchanged from 0.2.0.
Kureedo 0.2.0
New ヰ outline. Klee's uprights and stroke ends are unchanged; the bars sit 50 units closer, the upper bar is 30 units and the lower bar 60 units longer. It replaces the 0.1 outline, whose longer lower bar was the fault: in blind comparison the new form beat 0.1 directly and tied or beat every other finalist. docs/methods.md records the eleven rounds, and docs/votes/ the ballots, design parameters, candidate outlines and the preference model that guided the last rounds.
Everything else is as in 0.1.1: hist/ss01/cv01/cv02, Ainu small kana, combining marks with ccmp.
Kureedo-Regular.ttf— desktop.KureedoKata-Regular.woff2/.ttf— web kana subset.OFL.txt,SHA256SUMS.txt.
Kureedo 0.1.1
Combining ゛ and ゜ are now classified as marks and have no vertical advance, so a base plus mark sequence the ccmp table does not cover still takes one cell in vertical text. Otherwise the same fonts as 0.1.0: Klee One with a 子-shaped ネ (final) and a 井-shaped ヰ (provisional) behind hist, ss01, cv01 and cv02; text stays U+30CD and U+30F0.
Kureedo-Regular.ttf— desktop: the whole of Klee One Regular plus the historical glyphs and features.KureedoKata-Regular.woff2/.ttf— web: kana only, with the Ainu small kana ㇰ–ㇿ, combining ゛゜ andccmpfor セ゚ ツ゚ ト゚ ㇷ゚ カ゚–コ゚.OFL.txt— SIL Open Font License 1.1;SHA256SUMS.txt.
Kureedo 0.1.0
First release. Klee One with two katakana of Edo-period print behind OpenType features: a 子-shaped ネ (final) and a 井-shaped ヰ (provisional). Default glyphs are Klee One's; hist or ss01 switches both, cv01 and cv02 one at a time. Text stays U+30CD and U+30F0.
Kureedo-Regular.ttf— desktop: the whole of Klee One Regular plus the historical glyphs and features.KureedoKata-Regular.woff2/.ttf— web: kana only, with the Ainu small kana ㇰ–ㇿ, combining ゛゜ andccmpfor セ゚ ツ゚ ト゚ ㇷ゚ カ゚–コ゚.OFL.txt— SIL Open Font License 1.1;SHA256SUMS.txt.
Build: scripts/build.py from the pinned Klee One commit 8b05327; every Klee One glyph is byte-identical in the full font. How the forms were chosen: docs/methods.md.
Superseded by v0.1.1, which fixes the vertical advance and GDEF class of the combining marks.
