Release list
BootCamp Performance Control 0.5.0-rc.2
BootCamp Performance Control 0.5.0-rc.2
This release candidate expands BCPC's capability-driven thermal-control architecture while keeping the fail-closed hardware safety model.
Highlights
- Gaming Optimised uses the global Supported Intel Mac processor policy:
- Maximum Processor State AC/DC: 95% / 95%
- Processor Boost AC/DC: Disabled / Disabled
SupportedIntelMacis determined from detected Apple hardware + Intel CPU, not an exact Mac-model whitelist.- Fan-write eligibility is independent and selected from a fresh live AppleSMC capability fingerprint.
- Production capability families:
PerFanModeFloat32- bounded
GlobalMaskFpe2
- Dynamic topology is discovered from live
FNum. - Maximum Safe RPM is derived from fresh live
F{i}Mx. - Pre-write transaction journaling, deterministic partial-write recovery and Apple Auto rollback/recovery are hardened.
- The obsolete model-validation / tested-vs-untested UI classification has been removed.
Physical validation evidence
MacBookPro16,1 remains physically validated end-to-end for PerFanModeFloat32.
MacBookPro12,1 has physically qualified the one-fan GlobalMaskFpe2 write/readback/Apple Auto round trip.
Physical validation records are evidence for observed mechanisms. They are not runtime model whitelists.
Safety boundaries
- Two-fan
GlobalMaskFpe2(FS! = 0003) still requires its own BCPC-owned physical qualification. - Unknown, malformed or mismatched capability fingerprints fail closed.
FNum = 0remains a valid passive/fanless read-only topology.- BCPC does not expose arbitrary SMC writes, minimum-RPM control or a user-defined RPM slider.
- Exact Mac model identity does not grant normal processor or fan-write permission.
- The experimental native
BootCampSmcwrite transport is not claimed as physically write-qualified and is not the production dependency. - The release ZIP does not bundle Macs Fan Control,
applesmc.sys,BootCampSmc.sys, driver packages or other proprietary third-party binaries.
The currently validated compatibility environment uses a separately installed copy of Macs Fan Control 1.5.16 / AppleSMC driver 1.0.7.0.

Stable v0.4.0 remains the latest stable release. v0.5.0-rc.2 is a pre-release intended for controlled compatibility testing.
BootCamp Performance Control 0.5.0-rc.1
0.5.0-rc.1 — T2 fan-control family candidate
This is a pre-release. Stable remains 0.4.0.
Highlights
- Gaming Optimised CPU target is global for
SupportedIntelMac: Maximum Processor State95% / 95%, Boost disabled on AC/DC. - Fan control is additive; CPU-only Gaming remains available when the fan backend is unavailable or cannot be safely owned.
- Dynamic fan topology is discovered from live
FNum. - Fan writes are enabled only for the verified runtime MMIO +
FNum+ per-fan FLT4 /Md/Tgcapability family. - Maximum Safe RPM targets always come from fresh live
F{i}Mx. - Crash/startup fan recovery and fan-only resume are generalized beyond an exact-model runtime gate.
- Legacy schema-v1 downgrade recovery remains for the exact two-fan
MacBookPro16,1path.
Physical validation
End-to-end physically validated on:
MacBookPro16,1- MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019)
- Apple T2
- Windows 10 Boot Camp
Validated lifecycle:
- read-only capability preflight,
- Maximum Safe RPM apply and read-back,
- CPU
95 / 95, Boost0 / 0, - normal
FANS -> POWERRestore, - forced-process termination,
- automatic startup Apple Auto fan recovery,
- processor snapshot preservation,
- fan-only resume without snapshot replacement,
- final exact processor Restore.
Observed live fan maxima on the reference machine:
- Fan 0:
5616 RPM - Fan 1:
5200 RPM
Other machines are not claimed physically validated merely because they contain Apple T2. Fan-write eligibility depends on the live guarded capability fingerprint.
Safety boundary
- T1
fpe2/FS!writes remain disabled. - Closed production write surface: discovered
F0..F9 Md/Tgonly. - No arbitrary SMC keys.
- No minimum-RPM controls.
- No manual fan-speed slider.
- No undervolting or CPU MSR writes.
- No firmware or display-timing modifications.
- BCPC does not bundle Macs Fan Control,
applesmc.sys, or the experimental nativeBootCampSmcdriver.
Compatibility backend
The physically validated environment uses a separately installed:
- Macs Fan Control
1.5.16 (Build 693) - AppleSMC driver file version
1.0.7.0
Close the Macs Fan Control application before BCPC takes fan ownership.
