High Level Feature tour

We are aiming to have three milestone releases and then an RC1 release. Tentative dates are

  • M1 - May 23

  • M2 - July 13

  • M3 - August 29

  • RC1 - September 13

You can find details of what is in those release on our issue tracker but here is a high level summary

Note, this is a work in progress.

Milestone 1

  • A Dirt Simple Runtime aka DIRT. This is a server that allows you to control the lifecycle of Spring multiple application contexts.

  • High Level Configuration DSL - See Github Issue #1 to join in the discussion

  • Key abstraction of user defined processing streams, composed of modules.

  • Pluggable module system

  • Key abstraction of user define batch jobs, composed of steps

  • Metrics such as Counters, Gauges, Moving Averages, FieldValue Counters, Aggregate Counters that are populated from data in streams and jobs

  • Ingestion of data into HDFS from multiple sources (file, jdbc, http, syslog) to multiple sinks (hdfs, gemfire)

  • Export of data from HDFS to multiple sinks (local file, jdbc)

Milestone 2

  • Command line interface

  • HTTP based cluster monitoring

  • DIRT Runtime on EC2

  • Execution against Hadoop installation on EMR/EC2

  • Export of data from HDFS to MongoDB
