@mo0kid mo0kid released this 30 Sep 14:01

Wave Emulation 0.1.10 is a Windows x64 maintenance release addressing the "Ordinal 345 not found" startup error reported in issue #2.

  • Restores embedded Common Controls v6 manifests in the standalone EXE and VST3 DLL so Windows can select the required system-library version.
  • Removes manifest suppression from the Windows LLVM cross-build toolchain.
  • Adds a build check for the required EXE and VST3 manifest resources.

Extract the Windows ZIP and run Standalone/Wave Emulation.exe. To install the plug-in, quit your DAW, copy the complete VST3/Wave Emulation.vst3 folder to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, then reopen your DAW and rescan plug-ins.

The release includes installation instructions, licenses, a corresponding source ZIP containing the modified dependencies, and SHA-256 checksums. The binaries are unsigned. Supply your own Wave OS 1.700 firmware and sound disks; firmware, ROM archives, factory Wave SETs and disk images are not included.

Windows 10 runtime confirmation is pending. The native MSVC CI build currently reports crashes in WaveCoreTests and M68000ThreadTests; these remain under investigation.

The macOS download remains available from the 0.1.8 release.

Wave Emulation 0.1.8

@mo0kid mo0kid released this 29 Sep 21:27

Wave Emulation 0.1.8 improves tuning, front-panel editing, and Performance storage on macOS Ventura 13.0 and later.

  • Keeps saved Sound parameters, including oscillator octave, intact when switching Performances and layers.
  • Preserves Performance names during Store and clears inactive layers when overwriting a Performance.
  • Makes Store Cancel and mode LEDs follow the firmware page.
  • Routes Instrument Edit faders to the firmware's current page, preventing TuneTable edits from changing Transpose or other fields.
  • Aligns TuneTable slider transitions with the displayed selection and keeps HMT pitch stable for held and new notes.
  • Adds window zoom shortcuts and a shortcut to hide the lower keyboard area.

The DMG contains universal Apple Silicon and Intel builds of the standalone app, AU, VST3, and PACE-wrapped AAX plugin. Supply your own Wave OS 1.700 firmware and sound floppy images; they are not included.

Quit your DAW before installing. Runtime testing on macOS Ventura remains pending.

Known issue: Shift plus display button 7 in Store may not open the firmware maintenance menu.

Windows x64

The Windows ZIP includes the portable standalone EXE and VST3 plug-in, with improved window startup, shutdown, and UI refresh when display refresh notifications are unavailable.

  • Extract Wave-Emulation-0.1.8-Windows-x64.zip, then run Standalone/Wave Emulation.exe.
  • Copy the entire VST3/Wave Emulation.vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, then rescan plug-ins in your DAW.
  • Supply your own Wave OS 1.700 firmware and Wave SET disks. Firmware, ROM archives, factory sound SETs, and disk images are not included.

The Windows binaries are unsigned. Installation instructions and dependency notices are included in the ZIP. Wave-Emulation-0.1.8-Source.zip provides the corresponding source for this Windows build, including its modified dependencies; use this archive to reproduce the Windows binaries. SHA256SUMS.txt contains SHA-256 checksums for the Windows binary ZIP, corresponding source ZIP, and Windows release notes.

@mo0kid mo0kid released this 29 Sep 02:30

Wave Emulation 0.1.7 fixes front-panel editing and Performance handling on macOS Ventura 13.0 and later.

  • Restores Page-arrow cursor movement in Store naming and Format Diskname.
  • Makes Load-menu +/− move one entry per click without continued scrolling after release.
  • Loads all 256 Performance records into the firmware browser, so program names remain distinct after switching modes.
  • Keeps the selected layer, Solo indicators, and audible Sound aligned when moving between Instrument Edit and Performance.
  • Corrects Instrument Source changes so other layers retain their settings.

Wave Emulation 0.1.6

@mo0kid mo0kid released this 26 Sep 17:15

Wave Emulation 0.1.6 targets macOS Ventura 13.0 and later on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

  • Rebuilds the standalone app, AU, VST3 and AAX plugins as universal binaries with macOS 13.0 as the minimum for both architectures.
  • Sets the minimum macOS version explicitly so newer development SDKs do not silently raise it.
  • Adds installer OS checks and rejects release binaries with an unexpected macOS target or missing architecture.
  • Builds both architectures in the automated source workflow.

The signed and notarized DMG includes the standalone app, AU, VST3, and PACE-wrapped AAX plugins. Quit your DAW before running the installer. Your plugin host must also support your macOS version.

Supply your own Wave OS 1.700 firmware and sound floppy images. No system firmware or floppy images are included.

Validation: both architecture slices and their macOS 13.0 deployment targets were verified. Core, concurrent CPU, and host-state tests passed on the development Mac. Runtime testing on an actual Ventura Mac is still pending.

Includes the preset save/recall and patch-stepping fixes from 0.1.5. Version 0.1.3 remains withdrawn.

@mo0kid mo0kid released this 26 Sep 16:49

Wave Emulation 0.1.5 fixes Logic preset save/recall and runaway patch stepping after leaving an Edit page. The project owner validated the local build before approving this release.

  • Synchronizes preset save and restore with audio rendering so a firmware reload cannot overwrite the running emulated machine.
  • Retires leftover Edit-page +/- events and retries on the Performance page, keeping patch stepping to one change per click.
  • Isolates firmware-emulator execution state between concurrently rendering instances.
  • Remembers the selected firmware folder across new instances and DAW restarts. Saved projects retain their own reference, with the remembered folder as a fallback.
  • Connects voice-card workers to the macOS audio workgroup supplied by the host. Firmware execution remains sequential; no measured CPU reduction is claimed.

The signed and notarized universal macOS DMG includes the standalone app, AU, VST3, and PACE-wrapped AAX plugins. Quit your DAW before running the installer.

Supply your own Wave OS 1.700 firmware and sound floppy images. No system firmware or floppy images are included.

Validation: core and concurrent CPU tests, firmware-folder persistence across a process restart, live preset save/recall with firmware display and voice-board checks, and delayed-event, rapid-click, held-button, and Edit-to-Performance patch-step tests passed. The project owner confirmed the fixes in Logic Pro.

Version 0.1.3 remains withdrawn. Users of that version should update to 0.1.5.

Wave Emulation 0.1.2

@mo0kid mo0kid released this 26 Sep 01:19

Wave Emulation 0.1.2 for macOS.

This signed and notarized installer includes the universal Apple Silicon / Intel Wave Emulation.app in /Applications, along with AU, VST3, and AAX plugins. The standalone UI has been opened and visually verified without the logo.

After installation, save and quit your old standalone session, then open /Applications/Wave Emulation.app. Old development copies named Wave Emulation Sample.app remain separate files. The installer also rejects stale bundle versions when packaging and installs the standalone app into Applications even when development copies exist elsewhere.

Required system files and disks

The download does not include the Waldorf Wave system ROM or voice firmware. Obtain your own OS 1.700 system floppy files (w2sys.bin and wdv.sys), put both files in one folder, then choose System → Load System Firmware Folder....

To load original sounds and performances, supply your own Wave sound/setup floppies or raw disk images and choose System → Mount Disk Image.... A Wave .set file can be converted using Create Disk Image from Wave Setup.... The included PPG wavetable samples are sound data, not system firmware.

Read the setup instructions before installing. Without system firmware, the app provides behavioural synthesis fallback rather than running the original operating system. Complete original floppy boot emulation and bit-perfect hardware accuracy are not claimed.

Project source is GPL-3.0-or-later; dependency and data notices are in the repository. Matching source is available through the source archives below.
