Is your suggested feature related to a problem? Please describe.
Hi Modrinth team,
I wanted to leave feedback regarding the Modrinth launcher, specifically the feature that allows sharing custom instances with friends via direct links or the built-in friends system.
Currently, when sharing an instance, all mods, resource packs, and shaders are transferred seamlessly, even if they aren't hosted directly on Modrinth. However, options.txt and the config/ folder are not included in the transfer:
options.txt: Transferring this file would ensure that the recipient immediately gets pre-configured game settings. This is especially helpful for preserving language settings, the active order of resource packs, and keybind presets (which often conflict when running large modpacks).
config/ folder: This folder holds individual configuration files for installed mods. Including it would allow modpack creators to share their tailored mod settings alongside the mods themselves.
Including these two elements during instance sharing would make the experience much smoother for players sharing custom setups. Thanks for considering this improvement!
Describe the solution you'd like
Include the options.txt file and the config/ folder when sharing an instance via direct link or the friends system.
Optionally, add checkboxes during the export/sharing process allowing users to select whether to include configuration files and options, as some users might want to keep personal settings private.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Manually sending the config/ folder and options.txt file through a separate messaging app/archive to friends after sharing the instance via Modrinth.
Additional context
Including these files makes sharing pre-configured modpacks much seamless, ensuring keybinds, active resource packs, language, and mod configurations are preserved without conflicts for the receiving player.
