SecretoBoot V9.1 Final Universal

SecretoBoot V9.1 Final Universal is a refined release of the SecretoBoot multi-OS boot manager for compatible x64 UEFI Windows PCs.

This release has been physically tested on different PCs with different firmware behavior.

Highlights

  • Improved Windows / Android / Google TV / Android-x86 / Bliss OS / Linux detection
  • Improved Linux de-duplication
  • Improved WINUX and Zorin OS detection
  • Improved Android / Google TV boot support
  • One-time Test Next Restart workflow
  • Make SecretoBoot Default
  • Windows-First Compatibility mode for firmware that restores Windows Boot Manager first
  • Windows remains the automatic default selection inside SecretoBoot
  • 10-second default timeout
  • Safe recovery and uninstall workflow
  • rEFInd 0.14.2 with SecretoBoot branding

Recommended installation steps

  1. Download:
    SecretoBoot_V9.1_Final_Universal.zip

  2. Before extracting the ZIP, right-click the downloaded file and choose:

    Properties

  3. If Windows shows the Unblock option:

    • Check Unblock
    • Click Apply
    • Click OK
  4. Extract the ZIP to a normal local folder.

  5. Open the extracted folder and run:

    SecretoBoot.cmd

  6. In SecretoBoot, follow this recommended order:

Scan Systems → Install SecretoBoot → Test Next Restart → Make SecretoBoot Default

  7. Use Windows-First Compatibility only if SecretoBoot offers or requires it.

Windows SmartScreen / Microsoft Defender note

SecretoBoot is currently not digitally signed.

Because of this, Windows SmartScreen or Microsoft Defender may display a warning because Windows does not recognize the publisher.

If you downloaded SecretoBoot from the official SecretoTools / Mohamed LALAH release and SmartScreen appears:

More info → Run anyway

You do not need to disable Microsoft Defender or Windows Security.

If the program does not open after extracting the ZIP, make sure you used:

Right-click ZIP → Properties → Unblock → Apply

and then extract the ZIP again.

Recovery / Uninstall

If you want to remove SecretoBoot and return the PC to the native Windows boot flow:

Boot Manager Actions → Advanced / Recovery → Uninstall SecretoBoot

The uninstall process restores the native Windows boot path first and removes only SecretoBoot-owned boot files and state.

Important compatibility note

SecretoBoot is designed for compatible x64 UEFI Windows PCs.

Firmware implementations vary between manufacturers, so SecretoBoot is not claimed to work on every PC.

Always use Test Next Restart before making SecretoBoot the persistent default boot manager.

Do not manually delete EFI files or run random BCDEdit / EFI commands while SecretoBoot is managing the boot configuration.

Windows SmartScreen note

After downloading SecretoBoot_V9.0.0.zip from GitHub, Windows may mark the file as downloaded from the Internet.

Before extracting the ZIP:

  1. Right-click SecretoBoot_V9.0.0.zip
  2. Select Properties
  3. Check Unblock
  4. Click Apply
  5. Extract the ZIP
  6. Run SecretoBoot.exe

This helps prevent the Windows SmartScreen warning caused by the downloaded-file security mark.
Important:
SecretoBoot is not claimed to work on every PC. Firmware implementations vary between manufacturers. If SecretoBoot cannot safely validate the system configuration, it is designed to stop without applying an unverified change.
