Release list
CoolerCast 0.8.1
Highlights
- A new logo. CoolerCast has its own icon: a microphone around a fan on a dark badge.
- It shows in the taskbar, the Start menu, the installer and Apps & features, and in the settings window's title bar and sidebar.
- Small sizes show only the microphone, so it stays recognizable; the large icons in File Explorer add the CoolerCast wordmark.
- The tray icon still shows the temperature, as before.
Install
Windows 10/11: run coolercast-windows-x64.msi. Updating from an earlier MSI keeps your settings. The file is not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway. Windows may keep showing the old icon for a while until its icon cache refreshes.
Linux: nothing changes on Linux in this version.
See the README for details. SHA256SUMS.txt lists the checksums of every file.

CoolerCast 0.8.0
Highlights
- A flat, quieter settings window. The liquid glass look of 0.7 gives way to a flat design close to the Windows 11 Settings app.
- No shadows, gloss or gradients: cards and controls are a single fill with a hairline outline, and the corners are softer.
- The sidebar sits on the window background. The selected page gets a neutral fill and a small accent mark, and the selection slides to the page you pick without stretching.
- Switches look like the Windows 11 ones: outlined while off, filled with the accent color while on. In dark mode the knob now stands out clearly from the teal.
- The window uses Mica, the material Windows 11 uses for long-lived windows, instead of the busier Acrylic blur.
- A plainer display preview. The AK display preview drops the cover-glass sheen and the glow around lit segments.
- High contrast keeps opaque, outlined shapes.
Install
Windows 10/11: run coolercast-windows-x64.msi. Updating from an earlier MSI keeps your settings. The file is not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
Linux: nothing changes on Linux in this version; the settings window is Windows only.

CoolerCast 0.7.1
Fixes
- Power readings start right. Just after the power sensor opened (when the service starts, or when the display comes back on right after a refresh), the first value could be 0 W or a spike of hundreds of watts, and it stayed there for a whole refresh. Power is now always measured over at least 100 ms. The same goes for Intel discrete GPUs on Linux.
- A lost cooler comes back. With two displays (say an AK cooler and a CH case), one that dropped after a USB reset or a resume from sleep, or that showed up late at boot, stayed dark until the service restarted. CoolerCast now looks for it during a minute after starting and after losing a display, and never touches the one that still works.
- A failing sensor gets another chance. A sensor that keeps failing for 10 seconds is closed and opened again. On Linux with the proprietary NVIDIA driver, the GPU values no longer stay empty after the driver reloads or
nvidia-smiexits. - The service stays reachable. On Windows, a program that opened the service's pipe and then stalled, or that took the pipe's name between two requests, left
coolercast status, the tray icon and the settings window unable to reach the service until it restarted. The service now drops a stalled client after one second and keeps its pipe for as long as it runs. - The tray icon survives an Explorer restart. If Explorer restarted, or a click on the icon arrived while it was being updated, the tray app could close unexpectedly.
- Round capsules are round again. The gloss on switches, segmented controls, the update button and the sidebar selection stuck out past their round ends, which made them look squarer. It now follows each control's shape.
- The arrow keys keep the power mode. With the display in power mode (set from the tray or the command line), pressing → on the Mode control switched it to Custom. It now does nothing.
Under the hood
- The tray icon could leak a font handle each time it drew its text; it no longer does.
- While no cooler is found, the Windows service rescans every 5 seconds. It now skips the other HID devices on the PC (keyboards, mice, …) before asking them for their names.
- Shared drawing and protocol code, fewer allocations while the window paints, and Windows definitions taken from
windows-sysinstead of local copies.
Install
Windows 10/11: run coolercast-windows-x64.msi. Updating from an earlier MSI keeps your settings. The file is not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
Linux: download coolercast-linux-x86_64.tar.gz, extract it and run sudo coolercast/install.sh. The settings window is Windows only; on Linux everything is done with the coolercast command.

CoolerCast 0.7.0
Highlights
- A liquid glass settings window. The sidebar floats as a glass panel. The selected page is a capsule that slides to the page you pick and stretches on the way. A softer capsule follows the mouse.
- Cards are rounder, cast soft shadows and light up under the mouse.
- Segmented controls have a sliding thumb, switches a sliding knob, and every button is a capsule.
- Motion follows Settings › Accessibility › Animation effects, and the window only repaints while something moves.
- Your language. The window and the tray menu speak English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. CoolerCast follows the Windows display language; pick another one under General → Language.
- A truer preview. The bar of the AK display preview now sits above the digits, as on the cooler.
coolercast statuslines up every setting again.
The settings window and its languages are Windows only; on Linux everything is done with the coolercast command.

CoolerCast 0.6.0
Highlights
- A new settings window, in the style of the Windows 11 settings: a sidebar with Overview, Display, Custom value, Display off, Alarm and General; a larger, glowing preview of the cooler display with what it shows right now; and settings as cards with a short explanation. It follows the Windows text size, high contrast and transparency effects settings, and reopens on the last page you used.
- Temperature and usage at once: turn on Bar shows the usage and AK displays show the temperature on the digits and the usage on the bar.
- Display off: the display can go dark while the PC is locked, while the screen is off (Windows), or every night between two times.
- Smart device: shows the graphics card while it is busy (for example while gaming) and the processor otherwise.
All of it is also in the tray menu and in coolercast set (bar, source=smart, off_when_locked, off_when_screen_off, off_at_night, night_start, night_end).
On Linux the display can be turned off on a night schedule; locking and screen-off detection are Windows only.

CoolerCast 0.5.1
Fixes
coolercast probekeeps the display lit. The AK display goes blank a few seconds after the last report, so values could disappear while you were still looking at them, andprobe rawlost its payload right after sending it. Both now refresh the display every second until you press Enter.
Findings
A full scan of the undocumented digit values (10–255) on an AK400 DIGITAL SE is now in the protocol notes: a few shapes (C, L, h, 3 and some dashes), but no G, P or U, whatever the °C/°F/% symbol. Words such as CPU or GPU cannot be written on AK displays.
If your cooler shows something different, coolercast probe digit (with the service stopped) and an issue are very welcome.

CoolerCast 0.5.0
Highlights
- GPU values: temperature, usage, power and clock of the graphics card, for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. They are only read while a display shows them.
- Windows: NVML for NVIDIA cards; for AMD and Intel, the same graphics kernel data Task Manager uses (temperature, usage, clock; no power in watts).
- Linux: the
amdgpu,i915/xeandnouveaudrivers, andnvidia-smifor the proprietary NVIDIA driver.
- Show the GPU on any display: new Device setting (CPU, GPU or Alternate) in the settings window, the tray menu and
coolercast set source=gpu|cpu|auto. - CH series cases (experimental): CH560 DIGITAL, CH360 DIGITAL and MORPHEUS show the CPU and the GPU at once; CH170, CH270 and CH690 DIGITAL show a CPU or a GPU page.
coolercast listandcoolercast statusshow the GPU, andcoolercast testhas a GPU step.
Help wanted
The CH cases and the NVIDIA path have not been tested on real hardware (the AMD path on Windows was tested with a Radeon RX 550). If you own one, please run coolercast list and coolercast test (with the service stopped) and open an issue with the result, good or bad.

CoolerCast 0.4.1
Highlights
- Windows efficiency mode (EcoQoS): the service and the tray icon ask Windows to run them as efficiently as possible. On CPUs with efficiency cores (Intel 12th gen and later) Windows schedules them there, at the most efficient clock speed, also on AC power. The settings window and the tray menu run normally while they are open.
- The priority stays normal on purpose: at idle priority the display would stop updating under full load, exactly when the temperature matters. Because of that, Task Manager may not show the leaf icon.
Install
Windows 10/11: run coolercast-windows-x64.msi. Updating from an earlier MSI keeps your settings. The file is not code-signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info → Run anyway.
Linux: nothing changes on Linux in this version.
See the README for details.
Notes
- The displays added in 0.4.0 are still experimental and untested on real hardware; reports are welcome.

CoolerCast 0.4.0
Highlights
- More DeepCool displays (experimental): AG400/AG620 DIGITAL, LS520/LS720 SE DIGITAL, LD240/LD360, LQ240/LQ360, ASSASSIN IV VC VISION, AK400/AK500/AK620 DIGITAL PRO, AK620 G2 / AK400 G2 / AK500 G2 / AK700 DIGITAL NYX and the CH510 MESH DIGITAL case.
- CPU power and frequency for the displays that show them (LD, LQ, DIGITAL PRO and the LS power mode). They are only measured while such a display is connected, so AK users pay nothing extra.
- Power mode for the LS series:
coolercast set mode=poweror Display → Power in the tray menu. Displays without a power symbol show the temperature instead. coolercast listandcoolercast statusshow the power and frequency;coolercast testexercises every display family.- The settings window shows the cooler preview with AK displays, and temperature, usage, power and frequency with the others.
Help wanted
The new models are implemented from community protocol notes and have not been tested on real hardware. If you own one, please run coolercast list and coolercast test (with the service stopped) and open an issue with the result, good or bad.

CoolerCast 0.3.0
Highlights
- Windows installer: download
coolercast-windows-x64.msi, double-click, done. It installs to Program Files, starts the service and adds CoolerCast to the Start menu; uninstall from Settings → Apps. - Linux support (x86-64, systemd): the same service and CLI, installed with three commands. CPU temperature comes from the kernel's hwmon drivers, no extra driver needed.
- Check for updates button in the settings window. It only contacts GitHub when you click it.
- No Visual C++ Redistributable needed: the executables include the C runtime.
- Clearer install guide in the README, with troubleshooting for both systems.
Install
Windows 10/11
- Remove the official DeepCool app (both apps would fight over the display).
- For the CPU temperature, install PawnIO:
winget install namazso.PawnIO. - Run
