MacParakeet 0.8.1
MacParakeet 0.8.1
MacParakeet 0.8.1 adds several ways to work with saved meetings and transcripts, alongside a targeted fix for interrupted Bluetooth microphone capture.
New
- Import recordings into Meetings. Choose an existing audio or video file, set its title and date, and process it through the normal meeting workflow. MacParakeet keeps the original file unchanged. #1030
- Split a saved meeting. Divide a long recording into independently saved and transcribed meetings. Each part gets its own audio, transcript, speaker labels, and identity; the source recording stays unchanged. #1022
- Correct timed transcripts. Edit transcript lines, merge adjacent lines from the same speaker, and undo, redo, or reset corrections. Corrected text is used consistently in playback, search, AI context, exports, meeting files, and the CLI. #1029
- Set up Microsoft 365 and Exchange calendars. MacParakeet now guides you through connecting these accounts through macOS Calendar. Meeting detection continues to use Apple's local EventKit integration; MacParakeet does not add a separate Microsoft cloud connection. #1028
- CLI 4.1.0. The CLI bundled with the app adds matching commands for meeting import, splitting, and timed transcript corrections. #1035
Refined
- Untimed meetings now offer a clearer Add timestamps... action. MacParakeet explains that the operation may download a model, can take several minutes, and replaces the transcript while preserving prompts and chats. #1035
- The empty Labels menu now explains how labels organize and filter the Library instead of showing inactive search and filter controls. #1035
- YouTube anti-bot responses now show practical retry and local-file options instead of raw downloader output. #1025
Fixed
- An established Bluetooth microphone can remain silent without MacParakeet treating the valid audio stream as stalled and repeatedly restarting capture. Empty, malformed, stalled, and stopped capture still use bounded recovery. #1034
- When System Default resolves to a Bluetooth microphone that does not produce a usable startup buffer, MacParakeet makes one fresh attempt before falling back. #1010
- Long Parakeet transcription jobs on macOS 14 now serialize Neural Engine work that Core ML cannot run safely in parallel. #998
- Exact and maximum speaker-count settings now remain in effect throughout FluidAudio diarization. #1026
- The bundled meeting echo-suppression library is built and checked against MacParakeet's minimum supported macOS version. #1020
Diagnostics and stability
This release records clearer, content-free evidence for capture startup, recovery, completion, native audio lifecycle phases, and crash signals. The diagnostics include workflow and build identifiers but not captured audio or transcript text. #1021 #1027 #1031
Known limitation
The Bluetooth-silence regression reported in #1032 has automated coverage for prolonged silence and resumed speech. Recovery after physically disconnecting AirPods remains under investigation in #1033.
