MacParakeet 0.8.4

MacParakeet 0.8.4 lets meetings start muted, strips English “um” in Clean, and can keep cancelled dictations in History. Meeting transcripts stay verbatim.

New

  • Start meetings muted. Begin recording with your microphone off, then unmute from the live meeting panel. System-audio-only capture ignores it. Off by default. #1054
  • Clean drops English “um”. Dictation and file transcripts strip standalone um along with uh, umm, and uhh. Portuguese and German: turn off Also remove “um” in Vocabulary. It is on by default, because um is a real word in those languages. Meetings are not cleaned. #1053
  • Preserve discarded dictations. Optional. Cancelled dictations can stay in History, marked Cancelled, instead of being deleted. Nothing is pasted, including Paste Last. Needs Save dictation history. Off by default. #1057 #1075

  • Turn off live transcription while you record; the full transcript still runs after you stop.
  • A stuck or slow microphone no longer blocks the rest of the recording.

macparakeet-cli 4.3.0 adds start-meetings-muted, preserve-discarded-dictations, and remove-um-filler (default on).

Install

Download MacParakeet.dmg, open it, and drag MacParakeet to Applications. Existing users can also choose Check for Updates... in MacParakeet.

MacParakeet requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14.2 or later.
