Consider geofeeds as a secondary source for GeoIP

There's some work underway to allow ISP's to publish Geo information for all the IP ranges they own / manage. Draft is at http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-google-self-published-geofeeds-02 and a first tool at https://www.opengeofeed.org/

Today this has little uptake and data, but might be an interesting GeoIP data source in the future.

Just stumbled across this issue.

I am one of the persons behind OpenGeoFeed and just wanted to offer any assistance you could possibly need in interacting with the system, or if you have any questions regarding OpenGeoFeed.

It is true that, at the moment, we have hardly any information inside the public feed. Depending on adoption by network operators this could change in the (not too far) future though.

At this point we'll wait a bit to see if there's more adoption for the format and more data being made available.

Geofeeds hasn't seen any kind of real adoption. Closing this until that changes.
