MonoPaint v0.91

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Oct 01:02

MonoPaint 0.91 adds PNG export, eraser-end pens, and optional smooth brush edges.

  • Pens with an eraser end, like the Staedtler Noris digital jumbo, now erase
    when flipped over, and holding a pen's side button while drawing erases too,
    using the Eraser tool's settings. Your selected tool doesn't change, so the
    regular tip keeps drawing with whatever tool you were using.
  • Export PNG: a new menu item saves the current page, or every page, as PNG
    pictures in Pictures/MonoPaint. All pages are numbered from your chosen
    name, like sketch001.png, sketch002.png, and so on. Grays match the
    tablet's shading, and pictures are turned the way you're holding the tablet.
    It asks before replacing earlier exports.
  • Smooth brush edges: a new option in Settings gives dry brush strokes and the
    hard eraser soft, anti-aliased edges instead of stair-stepped pixels, so
    exported PNGs look clean. Wet paint was already smooth. It's off by default,
    since it makes drawing slightly laggier.
  • The side toolbar always uses large icons; the Medium choice is gone, since
    the buttons were the same size either way.
  • Open drawing shows your drawings as a grid of first-page previews, like the
    Pages overview, so you can find a drawing by how it looks.

MonoPaint v0.85

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 23:07

MonoPaint 0.85 adds the Brush pen and wet paint that runs with gravity.

  • Brush pen: clear water that lifts and moves the paint it touches. Its edges
    stay sharp on a dry canvas and soften on a wet one. Like a pencil, it widens
    as you lean it; pressure sets how much paint it pulls, with Strength and
    Pressure response settings.
  • "Wet canvas uses gravity" setting: wet paint runs toward whichever edge the
    tablet tilts down.
  • Faster hydration of large wet strokes.

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 20:12

MonoPaint 0.8 is a maintenance release that reorganizes the app's internals.

  • The painting screen is split into focused components, and tools are now
    described declaratively, making new tools and settings easier to add.
  • Tool settings rows share consistent padding.
  • Drawing behavior, tools, and file formats are otherwise unchanged from 0.7.

MonoPaint 0.7 brings the expanded drawing workflow to Supernote Manta.

  • Round, Flat, and Filbert brushes, wet-canvas blending, and pressure-controlled airbrush.
  • Layers with visibility, opacity, ordering, and undoable clearing.
  • Flat, linear, and circular fills; shape tools with live previews and center-anchored circles.
  • Eraser color for brushes, pencil, airbrush, shapes, and fills.
  • Zoom and pan, custom tool settings, palette editing, and configurable toolbar.
  • Faster page turns and a scrolling page-thumbnail overview.
  • Nomad Simulation Mode on Manta, compact page controls, and improved settings scrolling.
  • Temporary rotation suggestions with immediate press feedback.

Update with adb install -r monopaint.apk to preserve drawings and settings.
The application ID and signing identity are unchanged from Mattelier 0.26.
Android version code 39 allows this release to update development builds through 0.38.

Existing drawings remain readable. Newly saved layered drawings require this
version or newer. Actual Nomad hardware support remains unverified; simulation
mode previews the smaller layout on Manta.

Mattelier v0.26

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Sep 07:45

Mattelier's first public release for Supernote Manta.

  • Pressure-sensitive brush with a Light touch → Firm touch response slider.
  • Textured tilt pencil, gradual eraser, flood fill, and blending stump.
  • Dotted grayscale shading, custom tools, multi-page drawings, and undo/redo.
  • Instant tool/shade selection without the extra delayed Android repaint.
  • Visible dashed separator between standard and custom tools.

Download Mattelier.apk below and follow the sideload instructions.
Use adb install -r to update an existing installation; don't uninstall first.
The app name is now Mattelier; the application ID and signing identity are preserved.

Tested on Supernote Manta. Nomad and other tablets are not verified. This is an
early app: no layers, zoom/pan, or in-app image export yet; uninstalling deletes
private drawings. SHA256SUMS contains the APK checksum.
