map-zero 0.4.0
Map-zero 0.4.0 brings native vector maps and labels to Cesium, smaller map exports, and a clearer start-to-finish workflow for building maps from a selected area.
Highlights
- Cesium 1.145.0 native MVT rendering and labels, with layer controls and rendering that stops while the scene is idle.
- OpenLayers 10.10.0 vector rendering, shared PMTiles reads and bounded caches.
- Compressed PMTiles exports, corrected archive metadata and more reliable parallel export completion.
- Smaller building tiles, deduplicated features and correct per-layer 3D Tiles URLs.
- A user-focused README with real bbox builder, generation, 2D and 3D animations, plus a graphical workflow diagram.
Install
npm install --global map-zero@0.4.0
map-zero bbox-ui --output-root ./generatedThe integration packages are @map-zero/ol@0.4.0 and @map-zero/cesium@0.4.0, using the new shared @map-zero/core@0.4.0.
Upgrading
Raster-worker rendering and @map-zero/raster have been removed. Cesium context requires an XYZ MVT endpoint; the built-in server provides one backed by PMTiles. The Cesium integration requires Cesium 1.145.0 and Node 22+.
Re-export existing PMTiles to add stable label anchors for Cesium. Source GeoPackages and exported building tiles can be reused.
See the migration guide and full changelog.
Validation
Syntax checks, unit and export regression tests, Chromium checks of both viewers and native labels, and clean installation checks of the npm tarballs. Performance observations and remaining limitations are documented in the performance review.
