The timeline stopped being a strip at the bottom of the storyboard and became
an editor.
The Editor
- Its own tab, for every engine. Drag anything you have generated onto a
timeline: trim it, move it, split it, watch it back, render one file. - A media pool — this sequence, other sequences, generations, images, and
your own uploads. - Sound is a lane. Every clip's audio sits under it as a waveform. Unlink
it, slide it under the previous shot, link it back: the character is heard
before they are seen, and the preview now plays that instead of pretending. - Fades on picture and on sound — drag the top corner of any block, or
type the seconds in the inspector. - Levels with keyframes. Hover a sound strip's level line, click, drag.
Fades and points are one curve, so "fade in to a quiet bed" is one thing. - An overlay track above the picture for transparent PNGs — end cards,
logos, lower thirds. Alpha is kept in the preview, the render and the export.
A card that arrives on a baked black plate is keyed automatically. - Mute a clip's own sound, honoured in all three outputs.
- Export for Premiere / Resolve / After Effects — a real project folder,
media relinked, dialogue and music as separate stems, muted tracks disabled
rather than deleted. - The timeline grows: drag its top edge and the height goes to the sound.
Saving
Manual saves are the only truth. Autosnapshots live beside them in Versions,
never interrupt, and can no longer be switched off by anything — including a
second tab merely looking at the film. A control that has stopped protecting
you now says so, loudly, and keeps trying.
The storyboard
Describe the film, get the shots — now with a floor plan first, so a reverse
angle flips the light instead of moving the actor to a different house. Lines
are measured for how long they take to say, so dialogue stops being cut off
mid-sentence.
Speed
Hailuo H3 with a 4-step turbo distill: a 10-second shot, with generated
dialogue and sound, in about 11 minutes on Apple Silicon. Quality × Length
replaces the fixed tier menu, and RAM picks the model — 48 GB Macs included.
And the unglamorous half
- A black frame flashed between some cuts. They were gaps a fraction of a
frame wide — invisible, unclickable, impossible to fix by hand. - Transparent PNGs were flattened onto black on the way to the screen, because
the thumbnailer saved JPEG. - The renderer applied a mix the preview never played: the music bed was
attenuated and ducked under dialogue by numbers nobody could see. The mix is
in the document now, and the preview and the render agree. - A J-cut could be saved and then never recovered — the writers allowed
overlapping sound, the readers refused it. - Two tabs saving at once could both succeed, and one arrangement vanished.
- The Save button occasionally became 1554 pixels wide.
Weights and install are unchanged from v4.5.0. Update in Pinokio.
