The controller is compatible with FastLED and with a single channel LED strip. To support a single channel LED strip, you will have to power the D1 Mini from a 12v source. My custom PCB has a jumper that allows the ability to run the shade from 12v or 5v. (Via a sufficient USB power supply.) With the jumper open, 12v can be used to power the LEDs and motor. A 5v regulator must be used to power the D1 Mini.
