Ender 3 V2 Neo support

I'm wondering if the new V2 refresh (Ender 3 V2 Neo) can be added to this project. It comes with auto leveling and some slightly upgraded internal bits too and a new screen but I think the mainboard is the same as the standard V2. It also runs a version of Marlin Firmware.

EDIT: Some users have found that their Ender-3 V2 Neo needs a display firmware update for a proper boot if the printer has a TJC display.

Since some Ender 3V2 Neo's are coming with GD32 SoC, I suggest you check your printer board. Currently only STM32 SoCs are officially supported. Many people reports a successful installation in their GD32 boards, but some others got a soft bricked printer. That brick was successfully fixed by changing the SD memory card with a correct size and format, and flashing the stock Creality firmware.

If you got a completely black screen or just a screen with the Creality logo on it, try with another SD card, format it properly, rename the firmware to something unique and short, also try with the display firmware update if your printer has a TJC display.

hi, I wondered if the ender 3 neo is compatible to with your software. myself I have an ender 3 V2 neo and this software changed my printing life. now at school (mechanical engineering study) every group got his own printer, an ender 3 neo. i would like to flash your software on it, but can't find whether is compatible or not

@mriscoc that actually worked great! The only concern so far is that I'm not sure I got the physical settings correct. Do you have any tips on how to find the correct values? Once again it seems that the V2 neo is so recent that a google search came up blank.

The firmware seems to start off at 230x230x250 but the V2 Neo is actually 220x220x250mm so I adjusted that and subsequently tried manually moving the axes around and came up with x min -26, y min -26, x max 218, y max 205, and z max 250.

Additionally I had to manually set the prove offsets to x -21 and y (+)7 to set the prove right in the very center of the bed like the stock firmware does it. That's the correct approach, right? Or should it be off center like this firmware?

For anyone in the future that sees this: those values may be slightly incorrect.

currently 10. even at 40 saving and rebooting, it still printed off the bed. That all part of the calibration steps. that don't seem to make a difference. Just verified increasing min x, saving rebooting printing. print is in exact same spot to the left.

It should be negative number. For mine V2 Neo is -4, but it is using the Sprite hotend. I don't know what it was for the stock hotend.

Are you sure that they are DACAI? I did receive reports that they are using fully compatible DWIN screens.

Professional firmware for 4.22 board, shown blank while preview on screen, we have to use their 4.2.2 firmware and the "Private" for screen which Creality privide to in order to make it work, I think if you check for it you would make it work.

I have contacted them via email couple day ago about the instruction how to generate thumbnail preview on screen, but they provided me with the useless instruction, but I have found that to generate preview thumbnail they use this slicer "
Creality_Print" "https://www.crealitycloud.com/software-firmware/software" there is an option in printer manager to generate thumbnail to Gcode.

@mriscoc so I'm having an issue where it seems I am incapable of getting the bed properly centered. Any tips?

I've set the bed size to 220x220 (even though if you actually measure it with something it is actually around 235x235) and I have manually tested all the end stops to come up with the X max and Y max, and manually centered the probe offsets by placing a dot in the direct center of the bed with a sharpie and then painstakingly centering the probe until it perfectly touches that center point (interestingly here the measurements I get with my caliper are off by 3mm on the x axis and a whole 11mm on the y axis). Auto home seems to work correctly and the device perfectly probes the direct center of the bed during homing.

However when I go print something the prints are always about 3-5cm left of center. I've tried prusa slicer and cura and manual gcodes.

Any suggestions on what could be going on and how I could sort it out?

Flash stock firmware, load defaults and calibrate your printer until your get a good working status, take note of your configuration, upgrade your firmware and configure it with the values previously noted.

You can use M503 and M115 to get your actual settings.

For whoever is trying to find a starting point for the Load/Unload Filament settings, mine seemed to work well on the following:

• Load: 385mm
• Unload: 435mm

Seems to be working fine every time, if there might be any unwanted friction in the tube, you might want the unload upped by ~20mm.
450 to 460mm should be working for everyone.

No runout sensor, just wanted to change the filament easier.

The Octoprint end script is the last one to be executed, there is not interference with the Slicer end-gcode script.

Thanks! I was able to format the 64 GB SD card as FAT32 using 4K cluster size with MiniTool. Though I still get stuck at the boot screen. I can revert back to the original firmware easily but not install this one. I'm out of options.

Connect the printer to Pronterface and check if you can control it, I suspect the problem is the display firmware.

I've found best results using an old 4GB microSD card that I only use for flashing. Anecdotally I've noticed on the Community Discord that people have problems with 32GB and up regardless of how they're formatted No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, although a sizable number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

More than a year ago I installed the professional Mriscoc firmware on my Ender 3 V2 Neo with board version 4.2.2 . First I had to install the necessary display firmware (since my printer came with a TJC display) then I successfully installed Ender3V2-422-BLTUBL-MPC-20240125.bin from the pre-compiled firmware.

I noticed that when creating an auto bed mesh, no values ​​are displayed and then I read that in order to see values ​​I need to install the specific firmware suitable for working with TJC displays, but since this did not bother me, the printer worked fine and I had already installed and managed the printer entirely via OctoPrint via USB - I thought it was not so necessary to reinstall the firmware again and make settings from scratch just to see values...

I recently made some improvements to the printer (Bi metal heatbreak) and decided that it was time to update the firmware to the latest version as well as to activate the options for LInear Advance, Input shaping and TJC display support. Everything went ok during the firmware compilation but when I moved on to the process of installing the new firmware, a huge problem appeared for which I ask for help!

The printer does not detect the SD Card. When I perform the first steps of turning it off..., inserting the SD card into the slot... and turning it on... to start the update, nothing happens, it does not start the firmware installation process but starts normally.

I should note that the SD slot worked normally and without any problems, and also that after I initially installed the firmware a year ago, I have not used the printer's SD slot anymore, I have only used OctoPrint for printing, precisely because I had read that the slot can be damaged by constantly inserting and removing SD cards and I also did not want to deal with SD adapters!

I have no explanation why this problem occurred. When I insert a card, the message "Media Init Fail" appears on the display, when I remove the card I see the message "Media removed" which makes me think that the SD slot is not totally inoperable.

I tried with a simple gcode file to start printing from the SD card, same problem again...

I've been reading a lot the last few days and tried a lot of things - I changed different cards - 4GB, 8GB... formatted them differently... tried using the OctoPrint Firmware Updater plugin to remotely install the firmware (it returns an error "ERROR - Flashing failed. Unable to transfer file" and "Cannot open file on client") then I read that the BFT protocol actually just transfers and creates a firmware file on the printer's SD card and when there is none it returns the above errors...

I even went so far as to disassemble the printer and with the help of a multimeter I checked whether the pins of the SD slot have continuity to the pins of the main chip and whether the resistors are ok. Because I read that it is a common problem with Creality boards due to a bad solder joint or a broken track.

The SD slot is clean (no dust) and there are no bent pins, at least as far as I can see.... Please help me, I'm desperate!!

Is there any way I can troubleshoot further? Or any other way I can install the firmware without using an SD card? Or should I just accept that the SD slot is somehow broken and look for a replacement board...

Also just noticed something - the markings on the main board chip were very smudged, it always were, never pay attention to it... however in very close inspection under very bright light I was able to read it out and is GD32F303 RET6 not STM32F103

Thank you Nicolas for all the advice and the encouragement, I already tried to install the original firmware from Creality, in fact that was the first thing I tried, that didn't work either.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think I read somewhere that even if the SD slot doesn't work due to incorrect/misconfigured firmware, the bootloader should still be able to read the SD during startup of the machine, as long as there is no hardware failure or the card itself is not damaged and it is properly formatted.

I just don't have the necessary knowledge to check if this is really the case.

Also, if is it possible to somehow install the firmware or instruct the machine to enter some kind of mode in which to forcefully apply the firmware file via the OctoPrint terminal, I'm not sure about that either...

This could explain the issue: Creality firmware is notorious. They have separate versions for ARM (STM32) and Gigadevices (GD32). For some reason, using the wrong branch corrupts the bootloader of the printer, and causes the issue you have been experiencing with the SD card failing to read. This is known behaviour. You are almost correct that the ST-Link is the method to flash new firmware, what you really need is the GDLink, which is about 10x the cost. I have fixed this problem once with a ST32 being accidentally flashed with GD firmware, but do NOT have a working GD32 bootloader. The cheapest viable solution is a new mainboard.

I'm using the very latest experimental build for a 3 V2, but cannot get preview working from Cura 5.11.0

The sample nut, washer, bolt supplied further up work ok, but gcode created today does not.

I wonder if there is a preview size limitation?. For example this gcode produces a blank preview image on the Ender:

Perhaps 8700 characters is too much? I checked with Notepad++ and there are exactly 8700 characters so the gcode seems coherent.
