Image Preview v2.27.1

The Character page now shows a card the way its creator made it: real lists and quotes, and the card's own colours, boxes and borders, always easy to read. It also fixes a freeze on crafted text.

(v2.27.0 was a test build that was never released. Everything in it is included here.)

✨ New

• 📋 Real lists and quotes: lines that start with "-", "*", "•" or "1." now show as bullet and numbered lists (with sub-lists), and lines that start with ">" as quotes. Before, these symbols were shown as plain characters. It also works for cards that mix HTML with this kind of writing.

• 🎨 The card's own look: text colours, backgrounds and gradients, borders, rounded corners, spacing and side-by-side rows are kept, so a designed profile looks like the card its creator made. Text is always checked against the background it lands on, so words never become unreadable, and very wide or deeply nested designs are held to what fits a phone.

🔒 Security

• Crafted text could freeze the Character page and Page view. One heading line followed by thousands of spaces made the heading check run for a very long time (in tests, 3,000 spaces took 11 seconds on a computer, and a phone is slower). Headings are now found in one pass: 290,000 spaces take 0.04 seconds.

• A card's look is never copied as it was written: every value is rebuilt from numbers and keywords. Pictures as backgrounds, positioning, animation and anything that could cover the page or hide text are left out, and text a card tries to hide is still shown.

🐛 Fixed

• When a card sets the same colour twice in one style, the last one now wins, as in a browser (the first one used to win).

• The text area no longer scrolls sideways, and a link pill or a long word can't push a narrow box off the page.

Page view now shows the whole gallery on Image Chest links, plus a new Storage manager, text size and background motion settings, and a clean-up of leftover temporary files.

(v2.26.2 was a test build that was never released. Everything in it is included here.)

✨ New

• 🗂 Page view reads Image Chest galleries: an Image Chest link used to show only one picture. Page view now shows the whole gallery, 80 pictures at a time, with a Show more button.

• 💾 Storage manager: see what Image Preview keeps on your phone, in plain words (saved previews, pins, Recycle Bin, temporary files, page history, lookup history, search keys, appearance and games). Every clean-up shows exactly what will go first, and emptying the Recycle Bin needs an extra tick because it can't be undone. Open it from the chat's right sidebar or from the monkey's pop-up.

• 🔤 Text size: a slider (85% to 130%) in the monkey's pop-up, with a preview and a default-size button.

• 🎞️ Background motion: Static (default), Subtle, Enhanced or Off. Your phone's "reduce motion" setting is always respected.

• 🎨 A warmer look: softer ivory text and one shared set of colours for the new screens.

🐛 Fixed

• A page you opened with an older version is now read again once, so an old one-picture copy can no longer hide pictures that are found now. If the page can't be reached, the old copy is still shown.

• Leftover temporary files from Page view, interrupted downloads and a failed "Save to device" are now cleaned up, but only when they are provably old.

• A page that only gives its preview picture (some sites draw everything with JavaScript) now says so in Page view instead of quietly showing one picture. Page view also tells you how many pictures failed to load.

• Pictures that sites hide behind lazy-loading can now be found, and a page with a "load more" button says that only its first pictures are shown.

The biggest update since v2.25.1: Page view, Clean view, Tavily search, a smoother Character page, and a full round of stress-testing and security fixes.

(v2.25.2, v2.25.3 and v2.26.0 were test builds that were never released. Everything in them is included here.)

✨ New

• 🌐 Page view: look at a web page's pictures and words without leaving Tavo. Tap a link pill on the Character page, paste a link, use + → Preview a link, or tap Preview on a search result. Select pictures and save them to Saved Previews. Nothing on the page runs, and ads, trackers and banners are never loaded.
• 🧹 Clean view: the Character page and Found images leave out promo banners, Discord/Patreon-style links, profile-link “creators”, tracker pixels and scraper stamps such as “[retrieved by …]”. One tap on Show all brings them back.
• 🔎 Tavily: a free web-search option (no card) next to Brave, with a fallback if one fails. It can also read pages that only show their pictures with JavaScript.
• 📖 Character page: keeps centered text, text sizes, bold, italic and underline. Pictures load only when you scroll close to them and fade in, so it jumps much less.

🐛 Fixed

• Found images: DataCat-style picture links were cut short, so pictures showed twice and half never loaded. Pictures now load a few at a time, retry on their own, and you can tap a failed one to try again.
• A new copy of the panel can no longer be left without working buttons, and the menu says “Image Preview isn't ready yet” instead of silently doing nothing.
• Scan this chat reads only the newest 5,000 messages instead of loading the whole chat first.

🔒 Security

• Crafted text (a card, lorebook, message or web page made of thousands of unfinished tags or a huge run of blank space) can no longer freeze Tavo.
• Links that spell out a private address (like 192-168-1-1.sslip.io) are refused, like other private-network links.
• Every saved image is checked again after it arrives; anything that isn't really a picture is deleted at once.
• Earlier versions had these gaps, so please update.

Image Preview v2.25.1

Image Preview v2.25.1 adds a Character page, a short friendly Terms of Use, a 30-pin limit, a much bigger Saved Previews shelf and safer downloads, and fixes several bugs found in stress tests.

v2.24.0 and v2.25.0 were test builds that were never released. Their changes are included here, on top of v2.23.0.

What's new

• 📖 Character page: read the open chat's character card (creator notes, description, personality, scenario) as one scrollable page, with its pictures and GIFs right where the card put them, like a bot's intro page. Open it from the panel or from the chat's right sidebar. It works with Janitor-style rich text and with Markdown, you can tap a picture to enlarge it, and group chats get a name switcher.
• 📜 Terms of Use: a short, friendly agreement you tick once before first use (it also points to Tavo's own Terms of Service). Until you agree, nothing opens, scans or restores. Read it again any time in ❔ Help → About & support, which also has a Discord link.
• 📌 30-pin limit: up to 30 pinned images at once; remove one to pin another. Older pins beyond 30 wait safely and come back as you remove pins.
• 🗂️ Bigger shelf: Saved Previews shows 200 images at a time (it stopped at 40), with a Show more tile.
• 🛡️ Safer downloads: only images, GIFs and web pages are ever downloaded. Videos, apps, archives, documents and model files are refused first, and oversized images and pages are skipped.
• ❔ The Help guide and the plugin description were rewritten to cover all of this.

Fixed

• The PINNED ON CHAT list said "No pinned images yet" after reopening a chat, even though the pins were on screen.
• Tapping Save or Pin twice quickly could save or pin the same image twice.
• Pop-ups could slide under the app's top bar and hide their ×. They now start below it, and Help and Character page also have a Close button at the bottom.
• "Extract images from text" cleared your typed text even when none of its links could be used.
• A web page that never answered left "Loading…" on screen forever, and stalled downloads could leave stray copies.
• The Recycle Bin now records an image before removing it, so a failed write can't lose a picture.
• "Already saved" now remembers up to 1,000 images (it was 300), Save all shows its progress, and an older copy of the plugin can no longer react after an update.

What's new since v2.18.0

New: Scan this chat for images

• One tap in the panel (or the chat's right sidebar) searches the whole chat for image and GIF links: the character card, persona, lorebooks and every message, newest first. No pasting needed.
• Results open in the same picker as Extract, with a summary of where they came from and a Rescan button. Rescan always tells you what it found (nothing new, how many are new, or that it failed) and keeps the tiles you left out.
• It only runs when you tap it, only reads (never changes anything) and sends nothing anywhere. It adds one read-only permission, message.

No more double saves

• Save selected, Save all and Import from device skip anything already in Saved Previews and save only the new ones.
• In the picker, saved images are marked Saved and can't be ticked, so the counts show only what's new.

Tidier and lighter

• Shorter hints in the panel; the details live in the ? Help guide.
• The Found images and Recycle Bin pop-ups keep their title and buttons in place while only the pictures scroll.
• In long lists, thumbnails load as you scroll instead of all at once, which is easier on low-end phones.

Make it yours (v2.19 – v2.21)

• Meet the little baby monkey next to the panel title. Poke him to open "Make it yours": wallpaper from your phone or an image link, wallpaper darkness, panel background, panel font, and the floating button's icon and color. Everything applies right away, and one button returns to your defaults.
• Saved Previews: Select and Clear all are disabled when nothing is saved.
• Tapping empty space on a pinned image's row no longer opens it fullscreen by accident.

Recycle Bin

• Restore now puts images into the chat you have open, instead of switching you to their original chat. The list refreshes right after a restore.

Security

• If you installed v2.21.1 (including from the Tavo Hub), please update. It was taken down from GitHub and Discord so the hardening below and stress tests could be finished.
• Only public web links can be opened or downloaded. Your own device, your home network and non-web links are refused.
• Games you add now run with no network access at all, on top of the sandbox.
• Extract can't be frozen by a crafted paste, and shows at most 200 links.
• New SECURITY.md: what the plugin does with your data, and how to report a problem.

Fixes

• Extract could list the same Markdown image twice, and very long image links could be saved twice.
• Closing Game Corner while a game was still loading could leave it running hidden.
• The Recycle Bin could lose entries when several images were deleted at once.
• An interrupted restore could leave ghost entries.
• A stalled download could lock the Save buttons.
• A deleted image could briefly reappear, and Delete could say "deleted" when it hadn't worked.

A big update since v2.14.

• Recycle Bin — deleting a saved image (one at a time, or with Clear all) now moves it to a global Recycle Bin instead of erasing it. Restore puts it back in the chat it came from; anything left alone clears itself out after 7 or 30 days (your choice in Settings). Open it from the chat's right sidebar.
• Extract images from text (input + menu) — paste a wall of text or HTML and it pulls out just the image/GIF links. Select all / Select none, then Save.
• Select mode in Saved Previews — pick any saved images, then Pin selected or Delete selected.
• Customizable floating button — choose an icon and a color theme in Settings. New default is a Forest leaf; Classic + Violet is one setting away.
• Fixed duplicate saves on a quick double-tap, and false "saved" messages for images that were already gone.

• "Reset floating button position" moved out of Settings and into a one-tap action in the chat's right sidebar (Plugin · Image Preview). As a settings switch it had no way to turn itself back off — leaving it on kept silently re-resetting the button's position every time a chat was opened. Tapping the new sidebar action resets it once, snaps the button back on screen immediately if it's visible, gives it a small purple pulse, and confirms with a toast.
• Quick Lookup history (Translate / Meaning / Web Search) is now saved per chat instead of one shared device-wide list, so lookups from different conversations no longer get mixed together.

Animations

• The main panel now opens like a black hole pulling itself open, and closes with a drawstring-pouch pull.
• Pop-ups crush into the ✕ when closing.
• The game window and pinned images open with a CRT-style flicker-in.
• Unpinning an image now closes with a matching TV-flicker effect.
• Performance pass: these run on movement/fading instead of animated blur/glow, to stay smooth on slower phones, with a touch of warmth added back to the pouch-close glow afterward.

Fixes

• Fixed Snake's on-screen arrow pad shrinking the play board.
• Fixed the game window's height quietly growing a little more every time it was reopened.
• Fixed the ❔ Help button closing itself the instant it was tapped.

• ⚓ Quick Lookup is now a real rope and anchor. It hangs from a rope and sways by itself. Pull it down to open the tools; tap it or pull it down again to close.
• 🎮 Game Corner button fixed. It works again.
• ✎ Rename fixed. Renaming a saved image or GIF only changes its label, so images can no longer vanish. Images lost by the old rename come back in Saved previews.
