This maintenance release adds support for Microsoft Edge 154.0.4258.37.

What changed

• Edge 154 moved the SDR/WCG/HDR output loop into a compact cold function
  fragment, so the earlier structured and semantic loop analyzers intentionally
  rejected it.
• v0.7.2 adds a fail-closed verifier for this layout. It requires one exact HDR
  output helper, exactly two nearby calls to it (planes 0 and 1), the shared
  indexed 01 02 00 usage table, the table byte flowing into both calls, and
  the original cmp index, 2 loop limit.
• The verifier rejects zero, multiple or incomplete candidates. Existing gamma
  initializer, constant-block, singleton-store and helper checks remain active.

Validation

• All 49 automated tests pass.
• Read-only analysis of Edge 154.0.4258.37 produced a complete plan with 98
  GPU gamma writes and two browser output writes.
• The author confirmed the live runtime correction. The on-disk msedge.dll
  SHA-256 remained E14B3D725FEF3EB23EF28D01D6D5707BCB6FFC3AE59CE2E42997AC72BF0674F0.

Native HDR, PQ/HLG and Display-P3 paths are unchanged. Browser files on disk
are never modified. Browser Gamma Fix remains free, MIT-licensed and open source.

This maintenance release adds support for Microsoft Edge 153.0.4234.48.

What changed

• Edge 153.0.4234.48 has 99 strict sRGB singleton constructors, compared
  with the 97 and 98 counts recognized previously.
• v0.7.1 accepts 99 only with the existing complete structural validation:
  exactly one contiguous BT.709/sRGB/gamma 2.2 constant block, one common
  factory/pointer tuple, every load of the sRGB constant, every store to its
  singleton, and one verified SDR/WCG/HDR output path.
• Unknown counts, partial layouts and ambiguous output paths remain rejected.

Validation

• All 49 automated tests pass, including an explicit 99-initializer fixture;
  unverified count 100 remains rejected.
• Read-only analysis of the original Edge 153.0.4234.48 DLL produced a
  complete plan with 99 GPU gamma writes and two browser output writes.
• The author confirmed the live runtime correction. The DLL SHA-256 remained

Browser Gamma Fix v0.7.0 — Chrome, Edge, Brave and Vivaldi

Gamma22Tray is now Browser Gamma Fix. This release adds Vivaldi support,
application update checks and optional user-confirmed update installation.

Changes

• Detects standard per-user and Program Files Vivaldi installations and its
  vivaldi.dll. Uses the existing Chrome analyzer without relaxing checks.
• Includes Vivaldi in process monitoring, on/off control and update handling.
• Renames the interface and download to BrowserGammaFix-win64.zip. The
  internal Gamma22Tray.exe, folder, startup value and log paths stay unchanged
  for compatibility with existing installations and shortcuts.
• Checks for new application releases on startup, periodically and after an
  unsupported browser layout is detected. Manual checks are also available.
• Installation requires confirmation, verifies the GitHub asset SHA-256 and
  size, keeps a backup and rolls back if the replacement fails its startup check.
• Adds an optional Do you like this app? Support me! menu link.

Validation and limitations

All 49 automated tests pass. Vivaldi 8.2.4133.52 passed structural analysis;
live attachment applied 94 GPU code writes, one cached sRGB correction and two
browser output writes. Its on-disk DLL hash remained unchanged. The author
approved publication after testing. Future Vivaldi updates are not guaranteed;
unsupported layouts still fail closed. Custom installation paths are not detected.

The updater was tested with a local full-package handoff, startup confirmation,
rollback tests and a real GitHub download/integrity check. A future public
release-to-release update still needs real-world validation. SHA-256 checked
against GitHub metadata is an integrity check, not an independent signature.

Native HDR, PQ/HLG and Display-P3 paths are unchanged. Browser files on disk
are never modified. Use alongside dwm_eotf_rs as before.

Install or upgrade

1. Download BrowserGammaFix-win64.zip and extract the complete Gamma22Tray folder.
2. Exit the previous tray application. Browsers may remain open.
3. Replace the complete application package; keep Gamma22Tray.exe beside _internal.
4. Run Gamma22Tray.exe normally, without administrator rights.

Versions through v0.6.0 require this manual upgrade. Keep the installation path
for Start with Windows, or reconfigure it after moving the folder. Automatic
updates require a dedicated writable folder containing only the EXE and _internal.

The tool is unsigned; debugger attachment and memory writes can trigger antivirus
heuristics. Do not disable security software. Review the README security notice.

Gamma22Tray v0.6.0 — Chrome, Edge and Brave

This stable release adds Brave and includes the more resilient Edge 153
output analyzer previously tested in v0.5.0-beta.1. One tray application now
monitors normally installed 64-bit Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Brave.

What changed

• Detects Brave Stable in standard Program Files and per-user LOCALAPPDATA
  installation directories. Custom paths and Beta/Nightly channels are not
  automatically detected.
• Uses the existing Chrome analyzer for Brave's chrome.dll; no matching rules
  were loosened to accept Brave.
• Includes Brave in browser/GPU process monitoring, the on/off control and
  update handling, and adds it to the About text.
• Retains the bounded Edge instruction analyzer, which verifies arguments and
  branches despite supported changes in registers, stack offsets and code
  placement. Unknown layouts still fail closed.

Ordinary BT.709/sRGB SDR receives pure gamma 2.2. Native HDR video, PQ, HLG and
Display-P3 processing are unchanged by this release. Browser files on disk are
never modified. The tool can be used alongside dwm_eotf_rs as before.

Validation and compatibility

• All 39 automated tests pass.
• Brave 1.95.101 (installation directory 153.1.95.101) passed existing Chrome
  layout checks. Independent live-memory inspection confirmed 94 gamma writes
  in its GPU process and two output writes in its browser process, with zero
  mismatches and an unchanged DLL hash on disk.
• The author confirmed the visual result in Brave before approving release.
• The preceding Edge analyzer was tested on Edge 153.0.4234.32, with backward
  read-only validation on the available original Edge 151 DLL. Chrome
  153.0.8010.37 compatibility was also verified.

Stable release status does not guarantee support for every future browser
layout. The existing Edge initializer-count and exact-helper checks remain.
The new Edge analyzer's resilience and Brave update recovery still need
real-world testing through subsequent updates.

2. Exit the previous Gamma22Tray from its tray menu.
3. Replace the application's files with the complete new package. Keep the

Gamma22Tray v0.5.0-beta.1 — Edge 153 and more resilient output analysis

Fixes Unsupported/Error with Microsoft Edge 153.0.4234.32 and retains
Chrome support from v0.4.3. Standard installed 64-bit Chrome and Edge are
supported; portable copies are not required.

What changed

Edge changed registers and split the HDR output loop into a different code
block. The beta adds a bounded x64 instruction analyzer using Capstone rather
than adding another exact byte pattern for this build.

The analyzer verifies the known output helper, traces usage-table values and
output arguments through both supported branches, and checks the loop limit.
Before writing to a process, Gamma22Tray rechecks the analyzed function bytes.
Unknown instructions, unsupported control flow and ambiguous candidates are
rejected. Existing Edge initializer checks and Chrome discovery remain intact.

This should tolerate more compiler variations, but compatibility with future
browser updates remains to be tested. The existing 97/98 Edge initializer-count
and exact-helper checks remain in place. This is deliberately a beta.

Validation

• All 39 automated tests passed, including variations in stack offsets and
  loop registers and rejection of invalid calls, tables, counters and branches.
• Read-only plan validation passed for Edge 153.0.4234.32, the available
  original Edge 151 DLL and Chrome 153.0.8010.37.
• Independent live-memory inspection of two Edge 153 browser/GPU pairs
  confirmed 97 gamma writes per GPU process and two output writes per browser
  process. Out-of-role entries and all evidence checks remained unchanged.
• The Edge DLL hash on disk remained unchanged.
• The author confirmed the visual result in everyday use before publication.

Ordinary SDR BT.709/sRGB receives the gamma 2.2 correction. Native HDR video,
PQ, HLG and Display-P3 processing are not changed by this compatibility update.

Gamma22Tray v0.4.3 — Chrome 153 compatibility

This release fixes Unsupported/Error after Google Chrome updated to
153.0.8010.37. Chrome changed two stack-frame offsets around the ScreenWin
HDR output setup, so the fixed instruction context used by earlier releases no
longer matched.

What changed

• Discovers Chrome's SDR scRGB/F16 output hook structurally instead of relying
  on fixed stack-frame offsets.
• Requires one exact output helper, a direct call to that helper, the expected
  RCX/R9 argument-setup instructions and the untouched five hook bytes.
• Rejects missing, ambiguous or mismatched candidates before making any
  process-memory write.
• Retains compatibility with the verified Chrome 151 and 152 layouts.
• Does not change Edge discovery, the gamma curve, browser/GPU role separation
  or native HDR, PQ, HLG and Display-P3 processing.

  the verified trampoline cave are all recognized.
• Read-only backward-compatibility checks pass for available unmodified Chrome
  151 and 152 DLLs.
• Live Chrome 153 memory inspection confirms 94 gamma writes in the GPU
  process, two scRGB/F16 output writes in the browser process and no unexpected
  role-specific writes. The browser DLL on disk remains unchanged.
• The corrected SDR appearance, new tabs and native HDR video were confirmed
  in a real Chrome 153 session before release.

Antivirus notice

Gamma22Tray is unsigned and necessarily uses debugger attachment and
process-memory writes. Those behaviors can trigger antivirus heuristics; a
locally built v0.4.3 candidate was classified by Windows Defender as
Behavior:Win32/DefenseEvasion.A!ml during testing. This behavior-based alert
does not establish that every build will be flagged, but users should treat
security warnings seriously.

Do not disable Windows security. Download only from this repository, verify
the release SHA-256, inspect the source and build it yourself if in doubt.

Gamma22Tray v0.4.2 — Edge 152 compatibility

This release fixes Unsupported/Error after updating Microsoft Edge to
152.0.4191.53. The new DLL contains 97 recognized sRGB singleton initializers
instead of 98, so older Gamma22Tray releases safely reject it.

What changed

• Supports the verified 97-initializer Edge 152 layout as well as the existing
  98-initializer layout used by Edge 151.
• Adds completeness checks for all loads of the canonical sRGB constant and
  all stores to its singleton. A partially recognized 98-initializer layout
  must not be mistaken for a valid 97-initializer layout.
• Retains the unique factory/pointer, gamut, transfer-function and scRGB/F16
  output-layout checks. Other counts and unsupported layouts remain rejected.
• Does not change the gamma curve, Chrome discovery, or native HDR/P3
  processing. Browser/GPU role separation and in-memory-only patching are
  unchanged.

Updating

Gamma22Tray v0.4.1 — reliable live Edge attachment

Gamma22Tray v0.4.1 fixes a case where the tray could report Active even
though an already running Microsoft Edge browser and GPU process had not been
patched. The correction now resumes reliably without restarting Edge.

What changed

• Adds a structurally verified in-memory image scan when Windows does not
  provide a usable msedge.dll load event during live debugger attachment.
• Ignores unrelated Microsoft Edge WebView2 debug events instead of mistaking
  their msedge.dll for the browser DLL.
• Reports Active only after the required browser and GPU processes have
  both been successfully verified and patched.
• Continues to fail closed when no known Chromium layout can be verified.
• Keeps browser and GPU changes separated: the browser receives only the
  scRGB/F16 output correction, while the GPU process receives only the SDR
  gamma 2.2 reinterpretation.

Gamma22Tray v0.4.0 brings the SDR gamma 2.2 correction to normally installed
64-bit Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 HDR. Portable or isolated
browser copies are no longer required, and browser files are never modified on
disk.

Highlights

• Watches installed Chrome and Edge simultaneously from the notification area.
• Attaches to already running browsers and follows new browser/GPU processes.
• Preserves Chromium's native Display-P3, PQ, HLG and HDR video paths.
• Provides a true runtime ON/OFF switch and colored/gray tray status.
• Includes optional per-user Start with Windows, About and diagnostic log.
• Structurally discovers compatible Chromium layouts and fails closed on an
  unknown version before writing process memory.

Browser updates

Gamma22Tray checks the installed DLL generation every five seconds. After a
compatible Chrome or Edge update is detected, it stops new runtime writes,
waits 15 seconds for the update to settle and restarts itself before attaching
to the current generation. Repeated or incompatible processes are bounded to
prevent debugger-attachment retry storms.

This handoff was verified during real Chrome and Edge updates: in both cases
the correction resumed after several seconds without manual intervention.

Download and usage

1. Download Gamma22Tray-win64.zip below.
2. Extract the complete Gamma22Tray folder to a permanent location.
3. Keep Gamma22Tray.exe beside its _internal folder. Copying only the EXE
   will produce a missing Python DLL error.

Antivirus and packaging

The earlier one-file PyInstaller beta triggered Windows Defender's behavioral
heuristics. The stable release therefore uses an unpacked onedir package and
also eliminates aggressive repeated debugger-attachment attempts. This layout
survived real Chrome and Edge updates without a Defender detection during
testing.

The program is still unsigned and necessarily attaches as a debugger and
writes to browser process memory. Antivirus false positives remain possible.
Do not disable security software; verify the SHA-256, inspect the source, and
build it yourself if in doubt.

Validation

• 19 automated tests cover patch recipes, update generations, safe restart,
  bounded attach attempts, tray metadata and per-user autostart.

• Tested on Windows 11 x64 with Windows HDR enabled.

Gamma22Tray v0.4.0-beta.2 — automatic browser-update handoff

This remains an experimental pre-release for normally installed 64-bit Google
Chrome and Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 HDR.

What is new

• Checks the installed Chrome and Edge DLL generation every five seconds.
• Structurally analyzes a newly installed DLL without restarting Gamma22Tray.
• Retains verified old and new runtime plans simultaneously while processes
  from both browser generations coexist during an update.
• Detects a replacement DLL even when an updater reuses the same file path.
• Fails closed on an unfamiliar layout and retries safely later.
• Adds Start with Windows, stored per user under the standard HKCU Run key.
• Adds an About Gamma22Tray dialog with version, project and author contact.
• Keeps the runtime ON/OFF switch and colored/gray tray status introduced in
  beta 1.

Important beta limitation

The automatic handoff has passed simulated tests for:

• a newly installed version-directory DLL,
• an in-place DLL replacement,
• old and new in-memory generations coexisting,
• an unsupported update preserving the last verified plan.

It has not yet been observed through a real Chrome or Edge update that arrived
while this exact beta was already running. Please treat that as the main beta
test. After the next update, confirm that the fix remains active without
restarting Gamma22Tray and look for this diagnostic-log message:

Edge: browser update detected: old_version -> new_version

Please report the browser version and attach
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ChromiumGamma22\Gamma22HotAttach.log if the handoff fails.

1. Download Gamma22Tray.exe below.
2. Run it normally, not as administrator.
3. Start or continue using installed Chrome or Edge.
4. Right-click the tray icon for ON/OFF, Start with Windows, About and the
   diagnostic log.

Antivirus warning

The EXE is unsigned and uses debugger attachment plus process-memory writes.
Defender or VirusTotal engines may flag those behaviors heuristically. Do not
disable antivirus protection; verify the SHA-256 and build from the published
source if in doubt.

The release SHA-256 and exact source commit are appended automatically by the
GitHub Actions build that creates the downloadable EXE.
