Release list
AutoPaper 0.2.0
AutoPaper 0.2.0 discovers compatible local models and makes first-run setup clearer.
- ComfyUI models discovered live: the menu reflects the installed models and nodes on your server. AutoPaper prepares compatible official text-to-image workflows, preserves their model-specific sampling, and checks the chosen model before writing an idea.
- MOSS-Image support: a tested bundled workflow joins Z-Image Turbo, Krea 2 Turbo, and Qwen-Image 2.1. Other compatible official workflows can appear automatically; custom API workflows are still supported.
- Mac setup wizard: choose and test both writing and painting providers before making your first wallpaper. Demo is an explicit option. Skipping setup or stopping the first run leaves automatic generation off.
- Mac window fixes: Settings scrolls to fit the display and comes forward when opened. Now has a cleaner layout and no longer pushes the navigation out of reach after a new wallpaper.
- Windows Foundry Local: an experimental preset helps small local writing models; it remains off by default and explains its limitations before enabling.
Full semantic memory is included in the release packages.
Downloads: use the DMG on macOS 26+, the signed App Installer or MSIX bundle on Windows 11, and the Flatpak for your Linux architecture. Existing installations can use their normal update channel.
Validation: 761 core and native tests passed; the final release CI passed all seven jobs. Signed packages, uploaded checksums and public update feeds were verified. See the release record for provenance and remaining manual QA limits.
Foundry Local remains experimental while broader GPU/NPU hardware testing continues.
AutoPaper 0.1.5
AutoPaper 0.1.5
A security update for macOS, Windows and Linux. If you have 0.1.4, it updates itself (Mac: Sparkle; Windows: App Installer; Linux: Flatpak / GNOME Software / Discover).
Changed
- The TLS library behind connections to OpenAI and Gemini is updated (
rustls0.23.46), fixing four advisories (RUSTSEC-2026-0346 to 0349). The one that applied to AutoPaper let a network attacker make later connections to the same server fall back from post-quantum key exchange to classical key exchange. - Three other libraries are updated (tokenizers, sha2, rand), with no change to how AutoPaper behaves.
Install
Same as before: the Install section. MIT licensed.
Linux
This release has no Flatpak. The Linux build arrives with 0.2.0.
AutoPaper 0.1.4
AutoPaper 0.1.4
A security round across macOS, Windows and Linux. If you have 0.1.3, it updates itself (Mac: Sparkle; Windows: App Installer; Linux: see below).
Changed
- Your keys stay out of logs and messages. An API key or token can no longer appear in a stored failure, the Console, or an error shown by the app, however a service echoes it back.
- Your data folder is private to you (owner-only access on Mac and Linux).
- Direct connections reach only your own network. Names like
.localorlocalhostresolve only to local addresses, so a name can't quietly send AutoPaper somewhere else. - Large images are refused instead of using all your memory, including deep-colour images.
- Mac updates are checked before they are opened, and the update feed itself is signed.
- Windows: the core is built with Control Flow Guard.
- Builds are more reproducible: pinned build steps and locked dependencies. The full review is in the repository (
docs/security-review-2026-10.md).
Linux: add the repository again
The Flatpak repository has a new signing key. Remove and re-add the remote with the new .flatpakrepo from the install section, then update as usual.
Install
Same as before: the Install section. MIT licensed.
AutoPaper 0.1.3
AutoPaper 0.1.3
Updates for macOS, Windows and Linux. If you have 0.1.2, it updates itself (Mac: Sparkle; Windows: App Installer, by your next launch; Linux: Flatpak / GNOME Software / Discover).
New
- Mac: "On this Mac" writes your ideas. Apple Intelligence can now be the writer: free, private, and nothing leaves your Mac. It is offered on the welcome screen (and chosen there when it's available) and in Settings → Providers. It writes ideas only; paintings are gradients until you choose a painter. It needs Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings.
- A Console that reads at a glance. Run and duration charts you can scan, and a friendlier way to read how long a run took (on all three platforms).
- Event details open first when you click an event in the Console, with the overview below.
- Mac: the model's answer, the instructions and the prompt each sit behind a disclosure, with the answer formatted and colored as JSON and the instructions shown as readable text.

AutoPaper 0.1.2
AutoPaper 0.1.2
Updates for macOS, Windows and Linux. If you have 0.1.1, it updates itself (Mac: Sparkle; Windows: App Installer, by your next launch; Linux: Flatpak / GNOME Software / Discover).
New
- Match my appearance. AutoPaper now asks for wallpapers that suit your computer's light or dark mode: bright and airy on a light desktop, deep and moody on a dark one. Your keywords still come first. It's on by default; turn it off in Settings → General. It follows the change when you switch modes. (When it's on, the writer is told whether you're in light or dark mode, and nothing else about your computer; see PRIVACY.md.)
- Mac: a native Moods list, and a Use / In Use button in each mood's header.
- Mac: choosing AutoPaper in the Dock, or Show AutoPaper / Show Console in the menu, now brings its windows to the front, even from behind other apps.
Install
Same as before: the Install section or help. The files below are the Mac disk image and update package, the Windows bundle and App Installer file, and the Linux Flatpaks, each with its checksum.

AutoPaper 0.1.1
AutoPaper 0.1.1
Updates for macOS, Windows and Linux. If you have 0.1.0, it updates itself (Mac: Sparkle; Windows: App Installer, by your next launch; Linux: Flatpak / GNOME Software / Discover).
New
- Console. A native view of every wallpaper run, by date: what was asked, which writer and painter answered, what it cost, and what happened when something went wrong. You can export a run as JSON or clear the log. It stays on your computer (see PRIVACY.md).
- Clear budget messages. When your monthly budget would be exceeded, AutoPaper says exactly why, with a link to the setting. Your current wallpaper stays; nothing is painted or billed.
- Local models get time to start. Ollama and OpenAI-compatible servers now wait 10 minutes (longer if a model has been slow on your computer), so a model that has to load from disk no longer fails after 3 minutes.
- Moods cleanup on the Mac, and refinements to lists and forms.
Install
Same as 0.1.0: the Install section or help. The files below are the Mac disk image and update package, the Windows bundle and App Installer file, and the Linux Flatpaks, each with its checksum.

AutoPaper 0.1.0
AutoPaper 0.1.0
The first release: new wallpapers from a few keywords, on macOS, Windows and Linux.
Give AutoPaper keywords (each a Must, a Maybe or an Avoid) and a Surprise level, and it writes a scene, has it painted by the AI service you choose with your own key (OpenAI, Google Gemini) or a model on your own computer (Ollama, ComfyUI, any OpenAI-compatible server), and puts it on your desktop. It remembers everything it has made, brings old ideas back seen differently as echoes, and learns from your likes and dislikes. Moods keep sets of keywords to switch between. No accounts, no telemetry, no AutoPaper server.
Install
- macOS 26 or later: download
AutoPaper-0.1.0.dmgbelow, open it and drag AutoPaper into Applications. It's notarized by Apple and updates itself. - Windows 11:
winget install msitarzewski.AutoPaperonce it's accepted, or open AutoPaper.appinstaller, which keeps it up to date. The signed bundle is attached below. - Linux: open AutoPaper.flatpakref (GNOME Software or KDE Discover), or
flatpak install --from https://msitarzewski.com/app-updates/autopaper/AutoPaper.flatpakref. The.flatpakfiles below set up the same repository. Ubuntu needssudo apt install flatpakfirst.

Known limits in 0.1.0
- On Linux inside Flatpak, AutoPaper can't put your own wallpaper back when you quit (the sandbox keeps your desktop settings private). Outside Flatpak on GNOME it can.
- Accessibility has been checked through each system's accessibility interface; full passes with VoiceOver, Narrator and Orca are still to come.
- winget lists new versions only after Microsoft's review, so it can trail this release by a few days.
