Jersey Devil Recompiled v0.3.2

Choose a tag to compare

@mstan mstan released this 20 Oct 00:45

Frame interpolation is withdrawn because it garbled the picture and could freeze the game. It can no longer be enabled, including from older saved settings or leftover mod copies. Widescreen now keeps the HUD in the screen corners at its original size. Playtest Diagnostics is off by default; enable it in Mods before reproducing a problem you want to report.

Builds use only the bundled OpenBIOS; no PlayStation BIOS file is needed or used. Windows and Linux (AppImage) builds. These remain preview builds; full-game completion is not recertified.

Jersey Devil v0.3.1 for Windows x64.

Offline playtest recording and the controller display are enabled by default. The package includes replay-diagnostics.py and the diagnostics guide. Existing rendering improvements and native game timing are retained.

Includes freshly extracted, compiled and audited original-disc native AOT coverage, the fallback overlay toolchain and OpenBIOS with its license. Requires your own supported USA disc (SCUS-94907).

These are preview builds; a complete playthrough is not recertified. Download the ZIP and checksum together; verify SHA-256 before extracting.

v0.3.0

Game-code interpolation for higher presentation rates; camera/model motion stays separate from simulation. Widescreen subdivision and renderer-bank culling fixes retain geometry across the wider view.

Enable the frame-rate and widescreen enhancements in Mods. Native game timing remains unchanged. These are playable preview builds; full-game completion is not recertified.

This release provides a tested Windows x64 build. Select your own supported game disc in the launcher; no disc data, retail BIOS, or saves are included.

Includes 13 audited native overlay modules, the fallback compilation toolchain, and OpenBIOS with its MIT notice.

Validation: production package launch checks, focused interpolation/widescreen/mod-catalog tests, ZIP integrity checks, and SHA-256 checksums. Source pins are recorded in BUILD_PROVENANCE.json and framework_pins.txt.

Jersey Devil v0.2.1 — original-disc AOT overlays

@mstan mstan released this 12 Sep 05:48

Jersey Devil now prepares native overlay coverage directly from the original USA disc before gameplay. The release includes all five secondary executables and five distinct renderer banks across 70 occurrences, using reusable extraction methods in psxrecomp.

Windows and Linux each ship 13 audited native modules with 4,313 guarded entry records. Both packagers freshly extract and audit all 11 configured recipes on every release; historical RAM captures and caches are not build inputs.

Validation: all 163 relevant compressed members match execution of the original MIPS decoder; framework regression tests and all three game tests pass; both packaged builds reach rendered game scenes with runtime overlay compilation disabled. Final user gameplay checks remain useful, and complete static execution coverage is not claimed. One byte-verified 100-byte Save helper remains on fallback because it contains an unsupported original instruction.

The existing optional widescreen and frame interpolation mods are included. Further extreme-aspect rendering fixes are being investigated separately.

Download the Windows ZIP or Linux AppImage plus its SHA-256 file. Supply your own USA disc; no game image or retail BIOS is included. OpenBIOS and runtime overlay fallback tooling are bundled.

The runtime enables its native cache at startup, and the shared release pipeline
rejects packaged configurations that would leave the shipped modules unused.
