2.2.10-alpha
The launcher now tells you exactly which ROM you picked and which one the game needs, instead of only "ROM not recognized".
- Wrong revision or game: for example "This is Mega Man X (USA) v1.0. Mega Man X needs Mega Man X (USA) v1.1 (Rev 1) (SHA-256 b8f70a6e…)". It recognizes v1.0, the European and Japanese releases, Legacy Collection / Mega Man X Collection / Capcom Town extracts, and Mega Man X2 or X3 picked in the wrong place.
- Unknown or patched ROM: shows the ROM's internal header and whether its checksum still matches, which reveals MSU-1 patches, hacks and bad dumps.
- ZIP / 7z / RAR files are reported as archives. Extract the ROM first.
- Copy details copies your file's SHA-256, SHA-1 and CRC32 for bug reports.
- The Mods source-ROM pickers for X2 and X3 explain a wrong ROM the same way.
Which ROM: the game needs Mega Man X (USA) (Rev 1), also called v1.1.
| SHA-256 | b8f70a6e7fb93819f79693578887e2c11e196bdf1ac6ddc7cb924b1ad0be2d32 |
| SHA-1 | c65216760ba99178100a10d98457cf11496c2097 |
| CRC32 | DED53C64 |
Headered (.smc) and headerless (.sfc) copies both work. The README's Which ROM? section also lists the X2 and X3 ROMs that Mods needs.
Gameplay is unchanged from 2.2.9. Download the Windows ZIP or the Linux x86_64 AppImage below.
