Security update, plus pressure units and barometric altitude.

  • Security: updates Capacitor, the app's Android framework, to 8.4.3. It fixes a critical flaw in which a crafted link could load outside content as if it were the app. Please install this update.
  • Settings → Pressure unit: inches of mercury or hectopascals.
    • The in-flight strip shows the QNH in your unit.
    • METARs and airfield info show both, with yours first.
    • It follows you to your other devices with settings sync.
  • Settings → Altitude from: GPS (as before), or Barometer + QNH.
    • Barometer + QNH uses the phone's pressure sensor with the QNH, the same sum an altimeter does, so it reads like your altimeter, with much less jitter than GPS.
    • The altitude alerts use it too.
    • Without a sensor reading or a QNH, it falls back to GPS. The GPS details (tap the status line) say which one is in use.
    • Not for a pressurised cabin. Compare it with your altimeter before relying on it.

versionCode 25. Signed with the same key as 1.24, so it installs over it. Don't uninstall first: that erases your saved routes.

Install: open the APK and allow "install unknown apps". With Obtainium it shows up as an update.

GPS status and satellites, the phone's barometer, and a map tour for new pilots.

  • GPS status line: while Location or a recording is on, a line under the top strip shows the position's accuracy and how often fixes arrive. Its edge is green, amber or red.
    • New in the app: satellites used / in view.
    • Tap the line for details: satellites per system (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou), signal, altitude accuracy, last fix and time to first fix.
  • Barometer: on phones with a pressure sensor, the GPS details show pressure, pressure altitude and vertical speed. It reads cabin pressure, close to outside pressure in an unpressurised aeroplane.
  • Screen stays on while your position shows, and the phone vibrates with every in-flight alert.
  • Screen brightness in Settings, for night flying. It can dim below the phone's own minimum; one button gives the phone its setting back.
  • Map tour: on first launch, after the safety notice, a short tour points at each control and says what it does. Settings → Show the tour plays it again.
  • Measure (the ruler) works from the aircraft while your position shows, and is dimmed otherwise. The distance box stays in the middle of the line, above the chart symbols and clear of the buttons. It survives a restart, and Clear map removes it.
  • Dimmed means unavailable: a dimmed button or layer row does nothing when tapped and says why. That includes SIGMET, AIRMET and NOTAM when nothing is in force in the next 24 hours.
  • Dial: 0 is true north again; the dial reads magnetic only while heading-up turns the chart.
  • Back online: chart tiles and NOTAM, SIGMET, AIRMET and weather refresh as soon as the connection returns.

versionCode 24. Signed with the same key as 1.23, so it installs over it. Don't uninstall first: that erases your saved routes.

Install: open the APK and allow "install unknown apps". With Obtainium it shows up as an update.

Updates ask before they install, and the edit buttons are on every screen.

  • "Update ready — Restart now / Later": when the app has downloaded a new version, it asks once.
    • Restart now switches in a couple of seconds and keeps your route and settings.
    • Later installs it at the next start, as before.
    • Settings → App version has a Restart now button while an update waits.
  • New APKs are announced: from this version on, when a newer APK is published the app says so once and opens its download page.
  • Never in flight: neither question shows while recording, showing your location or connected to the simulator. It waits until you stop.
  • Edit buttons everywhere: Add waypoint, Add note, Undo and Clear map now sit at the top left on a computer too.
    • The lit Add button is how you see add mode is on, and how you stop it. The blue "Adding waypoints — tap to stop" banner is gone.
    • A chart's ✕ and the legend move aside instead of hiding under the buttons.
  • Closing a loop: in add mode, tapping a waypoint already on the route adds it again, without opening the panel.
  • SIGMET, AIRMET and NOTAM dim in Charts and Extra layers when nothing is in force in the next 24 hours.
  • Aerodrome charts (תרשים שדה): 11 airfields, now drawn the size of the airport on the VFR chart and on its symbol.
  • NOTAM, SIGMET and AIRMET lists can be moved by their title bar and resized from the corner. They open again where you left them.

versionCode 23. Signed with the same key as 1.22, so it installs over it. Don't uninstall first: that erases your saved routes.

Install: open the APK and allow "install unknown apps". With Obtainium it shows up as an update.

A redesigned app, plus SIGMET/AIRMET, aerodrome charts and public pilots.

  • New look:
    • Menu and bottom bar: taller rows, one icon set, five tabs, with Comm fail set apart.
    • Map buttons: round, dark glass.
    • Phone: Add waypoint, Add note, Undo and Clear map sit in a column at the top left.
  • Settings:
    • every row on one line, with the controls lined up at any text size;
    • the frequency table and altitude pairs moved here.
  • In-app questions: every question is asked inside the app, centred. Messages stack at the bottom.
  • Chart symbols:
    • airfields, reporting points, VOR/DME and your own aircraft use the CVFR chart's symbols;
    • symbols shrink as you zoom out;
    • each layer can hide them below a zoom you choose.
  • LSA chart legend on the map: frequency points, compulsory points, route types, field types, drop zones and paraglider launch sites.
  • SIGMET and AIRMET:
    • a SIGMET layer;
    • lists that work like the NOTAM list, with raw or decoded text and an "Updated" time;
    • tap one on the map to open it, or tap a card to show it on the map.
  • NOTAMs in the inspector: a bubble or leg shows the NOTAMs that affect it, following the time slider.
  • Aerodrome charts (תרשים שדה): a new airfield-plate type for 11 airfields. Each chart is drawn on the airport as the VFR chart shows it.
  • Public pilots: optionally see, and be seen by, every NavAid pilot. Your private link is unchanged.
  • Heading line: a G1000-style trend vector in a turn.
  • Flight planning form: opens only when there is a route.

versionCode 22. Signed with the same key as 1.21, so it installs over it. Don't uninstall first: that erases your saved routes.

Install: open the APK and allow "install unknown apps". With Obtainium it shows up as an update.

Brings the built-in CVFR chart back, and keeps it.

  • Restores the built-in chart. Installing 1.21 over 1.20 copies the built-in CVFR tiles (zooms 7–12) back into the phone's chart storage, with no download. An earlier Clear offline CVFR had removed them.
  • Clear offline CVFR now keeps them. It removes only what you downloaded beyond the built-in chart (e.g. zoom 13). The question says so: "The built-in chart (zooms 7–12) stays."
  • Flight plan on a phone: the whole plan scrolls, so every leg is reachable at any font size, and the legs / NM / time / fuel line is readable in the dark theme.
  • Nothing is cut off at a larger phone font: checked up to 200%. The bottom bar grows with its labels, and buttons and fields widen or wrap.
  • The world map shows major cities (capitals and cities of a million or more), in English and Hebrew.
  • Update fixes:
    • a full phone no longer blocks updates;
    • an update already downloaded is not downloaded again;
    • the Save row is lighter.

versionCode 21. Signed with the same key as 1.20, so it installs over it. Don't uninstall first: that erases your saved routes.

Install: open the APK and allow "install unknown apps". With Obtainium it shows up as an update.
