JengaDev v1.0.28

Choose a tag to compare

@antonynjagi antonynjagi released this 08 Oct 14:59

Fixes the installer ports-check needing two clicks to advance on an
upgrade: the old instance's processes were killed with only a flat
2-second wait, which wasn't always long enough for MySQL/Postgres to
release their listening sockets before the port-conflict check ran on
the very next "Next" click. It now actively polls the configured ports
(up to 8s) until they're actually free.

Also switches the hidden-launcher script to use WMI instead of
WScript.Shell.Run, avoiding some shell-level launch overhead.

Fixes two related hosts-file bugs:

  • Creating hosts across separate sessions added a brand-new "# Added by
JengaDev" comment header every time instead of growing one list, so
the Windows hosts file accumulated duplicate headers.
  • If the Windows permission prompt needed to edit the hosts file was
declined or missed, host creation silently reported success anyway,
with no indication the new domain wouldn't actually resolve.

Both fixed. No other functional changes.

JengaDev v1.0.26

Fixes a launch bug: JengaDev.exe is a console-subsystem binary, so every
launch (desktop icon, Start Menu, login autostart) popped a visible
terminal window - and since that window was the process's own console
host, closing it killed the whole daemon.

The installer now launches the daemon through a hidden-window wrapper
script instead, so no terminal window appears and there's nothing to
accidentally close. No other functional changes.
