v0.9.0.0
Fixes a muxer error that killed jobs outright, adds hardware decoding, and fixes the queue's Pause on macOS.
Audio is negotiated against the output container
A track whose codec the output container has no tag for is now re-encoded instead of copied — the same treatment subtitles already had.
Copying an mkv source's TrueHD track into mp4, or an aac track into webm, made the muxer reject the output header, so the whole encode died within seconds of starting, on every attempt, until the job hit the failed-attempt limit.
Copy still means copy wherever the container allows it — all of Matroska, and the common case for mp4 — so profiles that already worked emit exactly the same ffmpeg command as before. A profile whose target audio codec the container cannot hold now falls back to one it can.
Hardware decoding (new "Hardware decoding" option, General)
ffmpeg can now decode the source on the GPU instead of the CPU. That is a large share of the work on 4K HEVC material, and it is worthwhile even when you encode in software — it is independent of the encoder your profile picks.
The list is built from what your own ffmpeg reports (-hwaccels). Off by default: that list says what the binary was built with, not what this machine can actually open. A method the host cannot open makes every job fail, so switch it on, run one job, and check the queue page before leaving it there.
Pausing the queue no longer wedges the worker on macOS
The encode was suspended but the call never returned, leaving a stopped ffmpeg that nothing could resume, cancel or kill. The signal is now sent directly rather than by running /bin/kill.
Also
- The end-to-end test suite no longer skips itself silently on machines whose ffmpeg is not in one of three hardcoded locations.
- A write-only field is no longer serialised into every queue-file write.
