✨ New Features

  • Color Picker reads like a prepress tool
    • Display popup: re-express the reading as sRGB, Display P3, Adobe RGB (1998), L*a*b* or Simulation CMYK, the way Digital Color Meter's "Display in …" menu does. A DeviceCMYK red gets the Lab it would really print at; an RGB black shows how rich it would come out
    • Simulate popup: the document's own CMYK output intent when it is a PDF/X (the popup then reads Document: FOGRA39L Coated and is locked), otherwise any CMYK profile installed in ColorSync or Adobe's profile folder. Japan Color 2001 Coated by default when installed, Generic CMYK otherwise
    • Separations: an Acrobat-style readout of the process plates and every spot color on the page, with total area coverage. DeviceGray lands on K only, Separation / DeviceN on their own plates, RGB and Lab are converted and marked ≈. Over 300 % is flagged; change the limit with defaults write com.github.munepi.galley colorPickerTACLimit 350
  • The Info sidebar lists the document's output intents under Features, e.g. Output Intent: FOGRA39L Coated (GTS_PDFX, ICC N=4)
  • A Window menu, so macOS window tiling, full screen and Cmd + M work as in any other app (#12)
  • Hold Cmd + Q to quit, as in Chrome: a quick press only shows "Hold ⌘Q to Quit", so a stray keystroke while typing in your editor no longer closes the preview. Quitting from the menu, the Dock or a script is still immediate, and Galley ▸ Warn Before Quitting turns the guard off (#13)
  • File ▸ Close, without a key. Galley has one window, so closing it quits; if you want Cmd + W, bind it with defaults write com.github.munepi.galley NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "Close" "@w" (#13)

🔄 Changes

  • Galley now requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. Xcode 27's macOS SDK no longer builds for macOS 11, so Sparkle will not offer this release to Macs still on Big Sur; they stay on v0.7
  • The README is shorter; the full write-ups for the Color Picker, Page Color, Text Weight and Custom Key Bindings now live in the documentation

🐛 Fixes

  • On macOS 27, Space, Page Down, Page Up and the arrow keys stopped turning the page in Single Page and Two Pages modes. PDFKit compares the visible rect with and without content insets to decide whether to turn the page, and a full-size title bar like Galley's always makes them differ (Skim is affected the same way). Galley now detects the stuck key and turns the page itself (#14)

🔔 Important Notes

  • Requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
  • Universal Binary (Apple Silicon + Intel)
  • Apple notarized and signed with Developer ID. The application bundle carries a stapled notarization ticket of its own, so the first launch works without a network connection
  • What the Color Picker does not report: soft masks, overprint (the separations readout treats everything as knocking out), annotations, and optional-content visibility. See Color Picker
