Mandatory: Carefully read the Troubleshooting FAQ and confirm that

  • I have examined the logs and tried to resolve this issue
  • I have fixed any errors or warnings in the logs that relate to tags
  • I am not running MA across a VPN, VLAN, subnet, behind a firewall, or using local SSL or have any other complex network setup
  • I am not using or have disabled tools such as AdGuard, Pi-hole or pfSense and retested
  • I have checked my network setup to ensure mDNS/multicast is not being blocked
  • I have reviewed the Open and Closed Issues and Discussions
  • I have reviewed the applicable player or music provider documentation
  • I have reviewed the MA Status Page
  • I have tried restarting MA and rebooting the host

As Applicable: Carefully read the Troubleshooting FAQ and confirm that

  • If using HA, I have confirmed the internal URL is set correctly
  • I have tried a wired connection for issues related to interrupted or poor playback quality
  • If the problem relates to a device then I have checked the device settings
  • If it is a frontend issue, I have tried a different widely used browser
  • For voice problems, I have sought help elsewhere before returning here
  • For playback problems, I have recycled power to the physical device

The problem

I have a WiiM Amp in MA labeled media_player.backyard_speaker. Since 2.8, this speaker has not played audio.

In the music assistant, it shows the track and the track is 'playing' which is to say that the track progresses and skips to the next track, no audio plays.

I revised the settings to prefer Airplay, DLNA and Sendspin as the preferred output method with no difference.

If I go to the WiiM App in iOS and play music through the speaker, it works. If I airplay directly to the WiiM Amp, it works. I have no other Wi-Fi Amp in the house to compare this to, but I have no playback issues on any Sonos or AirPlay device in my house.

I also did not see this issue elsewhere, possibly owing to the fact that WiiM is not as popular as other types of players.

How to reproduce

Play music from any player source in music assistant to a WiiM Amp and MA will appear to play the music, however no audio comes out of the speaker.

Music Providers

I only have Apple and TuneIn enabled and audio does not come out of the speakers when you play media.

Player Providers

Linkplay Technologys, Inc/WiiM Amp

Additional information

I have instigated playback through the UI and automations and playback 'appears' to work. However, audio does not play from the speakers. Again, if I use traditional airplay from an iPhone outside MA, audio plays just fine.
