Summary

First release of Vanta — a high-throughput HTTP and SOCKS5 proxy that binds each outbound connection to a randomly generated IP from owned subnets. Single port, zero-copy relay, one listener goroutine per CPU core via SO_REUSEPORT.

What's included

Proxy

  • Single-port protocol detection: HTTP forward, HTTPS CONNECT tunnel, and SOCKS5 — detected from the first byte
  • Outbound IP binding to random IPs drawn from configurable IPv4 and IPv6 CIDR prefixes
  • Dual-stack fallback — automatically switches prefix pool when target and bind address families differ
  • Custom zero-copy HTTP parser — avoids net/http allocation overhead entirely
  • sync.Pool for request structs and bufio readers — minimizes per-connection heap pressure

Infrastructure

  • SO_REUSEPORT: one listener goroutine per CPU core, no single accept-loop bottleneck
  • Linux kernel tuning at startup (ip_nonlocal_bind, TCP buffers, ephemeral port range)
  • Route registration for bind prefixes via netlink
  • DNS cache: 5-minute TTL LRU with CIDR-based IP override rules

Operations

  • Auth: none or static username/password credentials
  • Plaintext metrics (/metrics) and health check (/health) on a separate port
  • Graceful shutdown — drains active connections before exit
  • Connection cap via max_connections

  • Test coverage for the HTTP parser, auth, outbound IP generation, and SOCKS5 address parsing
