The bracket algorithm works in 3 phases: 1) Single elimination seeding based on weight category and ranking. 2) Repechage pool generation from semifinal losers. 3) Bronze medal matches from repechage winners vs semifinal losers from opposite bracket half. MongoDB stores match relationships using parent-child references for easy traversal. |
