Controller Tweaks and Remap 1.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 12 Sep 19:00

Controller Tweaks and Remap 1.6.0

  • Configure all 31 controller bindings through Mod Settings; apply changes when loading a save.
  • Apply overrides to linked actions, prioritize Focus controls over ordinary interaction, and allow separate Attack and ability-wheel buttons.
  • Restore controller remapping after loads with missed loading notifications or delayed player initialization.
  • Import supported legacy preferences into the new settings store on first use.
  • Use one Logging switch at the end of Mod Settings and retire console settings commands.

Retains the controller stutter fixes, wider walking range, Shapeshift and Mercurial Fervour steering fix, Alternative preset support, and short press Map / long press Game Hub controls.

Controller Tweaks and Remap 1.5.2

Pre-release

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 07 Sep 08:06

Controller Tweaks and Remap v1.5.2

Controller stutter fixes: completed background checks now stop correctly, duplicate input events are combined, and large updates are spread across frames. Controls recover when needed after loading or controller preset changes, without repeated completion callbacks or debug-log flooding.

The wider walking range, Shapeshift and Mercurial Fervour steering fix, Alternative preset support, and linked Bite/feeding controls are retained.

Updating

Close the game, replace/reinstall the existing Controller Tweaks and Remap entry in Vortex with Controller-Tweaks-and-Remap.zip as Root (game folder), then deploy and restart. Keep one enabled entry. Your personal ControllerTweaks.ini is preserved. UE4SS remains required.

Compatibility

Other mods that change walking or controller controls may conflict. Disable earlier standalone shoulder/trigger and TapMapHoldMenu mods through Vortex.

The optional Original Shoulder Buttons preset is also version 1.5.2, with refreshed documentation. Its eight bindings are unchanged; existing users do not need to replace their personal INI.

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 07 Sep 05:29

Controller Tweaks and Remap v1.5.1

Fixes Shapeshift and Mercurial Fervour ending when steering with easier walking enabled. The wider walking range remains, and full-stick movement strength is now consistent in every direction.

The previous controller stutter improvement is retained, along with Alternative preset support and linked Bite/feeding controls.

The optional Original Shoulder Buttons preset remains unchanged.

Controller Tweaks and Remap 1.5.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 06 Sep 21:29

Controller Tweaks and Remap v1.5.0

This minor update adds Alternative controller support and links the Bite controls. It also removes unnecessary background checks to address controller-related stutter.

What changed

  • Reduce controller-related stutter by stopping unnecessary background checks.
  • Add support for the Alternative controller layout, including custom INI settings. Bite uses LB/L1 by default so it no longer shares X/Square with Attack.
  • Use the Drink Blood binding both to start Voracious Bite and to keep feeding. Necrospeak uses the same button; keyboard users also use their Drink Blood key for these Focus abilities.
  • Warn in the log when Bite and Attack share a button.

Updating

Close the game. Replace/reinstall the existing Controller Tweaks and Remap entry in Vortex with Dawnwalker-Controller-Tweaks.zip as Root (game folder), then deploy. Keep one enabled entry and restart the game after selecting Default or Alternative. Requires the separate Dawnwalker-compatible UE4SS loader (reference: 3.0.1 Beta, 97b7e501c). HUDTweaks is not required.

Your personal %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dawnwalker\Saved\Config\ControllerTweaks.ini is preserved. With Alternative selected, change an explicit Player_Drink_Blood = X to LB, or comment it out to use the new default. Avoid assigning Bite to the same button as Attack or Focus. If every entry in an older INI is active, comment out settings you want to inherit from the selected layout. Save and restart after editing.

The optional Original Shoulder Buttons 1.4.0 download remains for the Default layout. Back up your personal INI before using it: replacing the whole file overwrites your preferences. Copy only its eight binding changes into your existing INI if you want to keep other settings. Do not install that optional preset through Vortex.

Older standalone controller and TapMapHoldMenu mods remain superseded. This release also changes DA_FocusConfig, so other mods changing that asset need a compatibility patch. All three zzz_DawnwalkerControllerTweaks_P files must come from this release. No HUDTweaks files are included.

If upgrading from an older package with a personal INI inside the mod folder, back it up before Vortex replacement and transfer your desired settings to the profile path above. Existing personal files are never overwritten by this mod.

Compatibility

Based on Steam build 25129649 / CL-257186. Existing shoulder/trigger, walking and short-press Map / long-press Hub behavior is preserved. Button prompts and the controller-layout screen may still show the original bindings.

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.4.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 06 Sep 08:41

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.4.0

Configure all 31 default-preset controller bindings with an INI. The shipped ControllerTweaks.defaults.ini contains the complete layout, action descriptions, Xbox/PlayStation equivalents and all supported key names.

Personal overrides live at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dawnwalker\Saved\Config\ControllerTweaks.ini, outside Vortex-managed files. Current shipped defaults load first; personal values take precedence. Omitted/commented settings inherit new defaults. The mod creates a commented reference only if the personal file is missing and never rewrites an existing personal file.

Installation and update

Requires a Dawnwalker-compatible UE4SS build with TMap and LoopInGameThreadWithDelay (reference: 3.0.1 Beta, 97b7e501c). The loader is separate; HUDTweaks is not required. Import Dawnwalker-Controller-Tweaks.zip into Vortex as Root (game folder), replace/reinstall the existing entry if present, and deploy. Keep one enabled entry and use the default controller preset. Older standalone controller and Map-shortcut mods remain superseded.

Launch once, close the game, then edit the personal INI. Uncomment only values you want to change and restart. Personal edits do not require redeployment. Reinstall this revised archive even if Vortex already displays 1.4.0 so it processes the new defaults filename and configuration loader.

Migration from an INI inside the mod folder

Before replacing an older archive, back up the edited Scripts/ControllerTweaks.ini using Vortex's Open in File Manager. Vortex may remove that old file during replacement before the updated mod can read it.

With the game closed, copy that backup to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dawnwalker\Saved\Config\ControllerTweaks.ini if no personal file exists. If one already exists, transfer only the desired settings manually; do not overwrite it. A full migrated INI preserves all its explicit values; remove or comment out entries you want to inherit from future defaults.

If a valid legacy Scripts/ControllerTweaks.ini is still present on first startup and the personal file is absent, the mod copies it byte for byte without changing the original. An existing personal file always wins. Invalid or unreadable files are preserved and reported in UE4SS.log rather than silently replaced. If the game's Saved/Config folder is not available yet, creation waits and retries.

Validation

Offline tests cover layered defaults and partial overrides, preservation across repeated starts and simulated updates, empty/read-only/invalid personal files, first creation, legacy migration, concurrent creation, and startup/loading/possession behavior. Actual ZIP contents, stable repeat builds, installed Vortex destination planning and container round-trip are verified before publication. The archive contains no personal ControllerTweaks.ini.

Prerelease: in-game acceptance remains pending. Test custom bindings after restarting and loading a save; check [ControllerTweaks] messages in UE4SS.log. Cached prompts/layout labels may remain unchanged. Existing walking and short-press/long-press behavior and cooked containers are preserved.

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.4

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 05 Sep 21:57

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.4

Includes the existing MIT license text for the original mod work, with the underlying game assets remaining subject to their rightsholders' terms. This corrects the package documentation; it does not change the mod's license. All three runtime containers are unchanged from v1.3.3 and v1.3.1; controller behavior was previously confirmed working in game.

The Nexus thumbnail, full description and listing metadata remain separate in the repository's Nexus folder.

Import Dawnwalker-Controller-Tweaks.zip directly into Vortex 1.14 or newer as Root (game folder). For an update, replace/reinstall the existing entry, then deploy. Updating from v1.3.1 is optional if you only want the gameplay changes. No other mods or loaders are required. Direct ZIP installation is validated; collection installation is not supported by this package's metadata exclusions.

For versions before 1.3.1, disable the old entry and deploy first, then replace/reinstall that same entry from this ZIP and deploy. Vortex must remove the previous container names. For versions before 1.3.0 it must also remove ControllerCompass.lua and restore original HUDTweaks main.lua if HUDTweaks remains enabled. Disable superseded standalone TapMapHoldMenu/controller compatibility mods through Vortex.

Validation: exact ZIP allowlist and source-byte comparison, absence of Nexus materials from the ZIP, unchanged runtime-container hashes, container verification and round-trip extraction, and read-only installer planning against the installed Vortex extension. Only the three runtime containers are planned for deployment. This packaging-only update does not change gameplay; later game builds remain unverified.

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.3

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 05 Sep 21:46

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.3

Keeps the Nexus thumbnail, full description and listing metadata separately in the repository's Nexus folder. They are no longer included in the Vortex ZIP. The ZIP retains the manifest, Vortex metadata, README, rights notice, changelog and these release notes. All three runtime containers are unchanged from v1.3.2 and v1.3.1; controller behavior was previously confirmed working in game.

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 05 Sep 21:33

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.2

Adds a complete Nexus description, listing metadata and an original AI-generated thumbnail. These materials, the rights notice and changelog are included in the ZIP. All three runtime containers are byte-identical to v1.3.1; controller behavior is unchanged and was previously confirmed working in game.

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 05 Sep 21:08

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.1

Uses Controller Tweaks identifiers and container filenames. Controller behavior is unchanged: shoulder/trigger swaps, a wider walking range, and the map and hub shortcuts are preserved.

Download Dawnwalker-Controller-Tweaks.zip and replace/reinstall the existing Vortex entry so Vortex removes the previous container files. Select Root (game folder), then enable and deploy. No other mods are required.

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.0

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@CamilleHbp CamilleHbp released this 05 Sep 18:11

Dawnwalker Controller Tweaks v1.3.0

Removed the Start/Options compass reveal feature after the user reported it did
not work and that heightened senses already displays quest objectives. No Lua
scripts or HUDTweaks overrides are shipped. HUDTweaks, UE4SS and other mods are
not required by Controller Tweaks.

Retains the bidirectional LB/LT and RB/RT swap, map and hub shortcuts, and wider walking
range (processed MoveFast threshold 0.70 -> 0.90). Controller asset payloads are
unchanged from v1.2.1. The name, internal ID, container paths and ZIP name stay stable.

Vortex replacement

  1. Close the game. Disable the previous Controller Tweaks entry in Vortex and deploy
    so Vortex removes its old HUDTweaks script overrides.
  2. Import Dawnwalker-Controller-Tweaks.zip and replace/reinstall that same mod entry
    from the new archive. Use replacement, not a merge that retains old files.
  3. Select Root (game folder), enable the replacement, and deploy through Vortex.
    Redeploying the old entry alone does not process the new archive.
  4. Keep one Controller Tweaks entry. Earlier standalone menu-shortcut,
    menu-shortcut and Controller Swap variants remain superseded.

The new package has no HUDTweaks main.lua conflict. If you keep HUDTweaks for its
own features, its original Scripts/main.lua should become active again; Vortex
should remove ControllerCompass.lua from the old package. If you use Prompt
Dismissal Fix, it remains independent and still wins HUDTweaks.ini. Do not remove
HUDTweaks or UE4SS if other mods still need them. Manage all cleanup through Vortex.

Another cooked mod replacing IA_Move, IA_Hub_Launch, IA_Hub_Map or
RIP_GamepadDefault needs an asset compatibility patch. Disable/remove Controller
Tweaks and deploy through Vortex to uninstall.

Validation

Source capture remains Steam build 25129649 / executable CL-257186. Prerelease:
in-game walking feel remains unverified. After Vortex replacement, check slow stick
sweeps, straight/diagonal full-tilt running, sprint, crouch, combat, keyboard input,
shoulder/trigger controls and map and hub shortcuts. If HUDTweaks remains installed,
verify its own HUD behavior after its original main.lua is restored by Vortex.
