v0.1.2 — Weather tools for MCP clients

Choose a tag to compare

@myAI-2025 myAI-2025 released this 14 Sep 02:15

Get current weather and hourly forecasts inside an MCP client, using the free Open-Meteo API. No weather API key is required.

Start with Claude Code

Prerequisites: Claude Code installed and signed in, uv installed, and internet access.

claude mcp add --scope user weather -- uvx myai-weather-mcp==0.1.2
claude mcp get weather

Look for Connected, then start a new Claude Code session or reconnect through /mcp. If you already have a weather registration, inspect it before changing it.

Try:

  • “Use the weather tool to tell me the current weather in Tokyo.”
  • “Use the hourly forecast tool to show the next six hours in Tokyo.”

Included

  • get_weather(location): conditions, temperature in °F, and wind in mph.
  • get_hourly_forecast(location, hours=12): up to 48 hourly rows, local timestamps, temperature, precipitation probability, and conditions.
  • Readable errors for unknown locations.
  • Python 3.8+; no third-party runtime dependencies.
  • Both myai-weather-mcp and openmeteo-mcp launch the server.

Version 0.1.2 corrects the MCP Registry ownership namespace to io.github.myAI-2025/openmeteo-mcp.

Verified

The 24 structural checks passed. The published 0.1.2 package was tested through Claude Code with current Tokyo weather, a six-hour Tokyo forecast, and an invalid location. The PyPI release and official MCP Registry listing were verified live.

Running uvx myai-weather-mcp alone waits silently for an MCP client; it does not open a weather application. Press Control+C to stop it.
