Besh 0.19.0-alpha.0 adds the standalone Windows x64 launcher.

Download the portable ZIP, extract it into a writable folder, then double-click the EXE. Complete first-run workspace setup in your browser and save the owner key. No Bun, Node or source checkout is needed to run it.

  • Workspace data stays in besh-data beside the executable.
  • start, open, status and stop control a verified user-owned background process. --port and --data-dir configure a new instance.
  • Production dashboard, trusted SQLite reader and offline notice export are embedded.
  • Built-in k6 provisions its pinned, checksum-verified binary on first use.
  • Source builds accept Bun >= 1.4.2. This Windows artifact uses the tested 1.4.2 baseline.
  • Code readability rules now require blank lines between small logical work groups, including after AI context compaction.

This is an alpha preview, below 1.0.0. It runs as a background user process, not a Windows service or automatic-start installation. Default Windows browser opening still needs manual desktop verification. Native Ubuntu/macOS execution is not verified; build instructions are in docs/portable.md.

Media libraries, content/Struct builders, additional databases/product-login providers and payments remain planned in docs/platform-plan.md.

The ZIP includes original notice materials, complete Besh source and build metadata. Exact Bun and libarchive source archives are separate companion assets. docs/portable-runtime.md records exact upstream pins and material limits, including the unavailable full WebKit archive. SHA-256 checksums verify bytes; no signing or license-completeness certification is claimed.
