v1.0.3-alpha
Windows (WSL) users: don't update. This version runs on Linux only. Windows comes back in 1.0.4. In 1.0.2's
Settings, untick Install updates by itself and Look for updates. If you've updated already, your projects
are safe: this version turns both settings off, and the old browser tab shows how to go back to 1.0.2. The
README's "Coming from an older version" section has the same steps.
1.0.3-alpha is a rewrite of most of decompdecomp. It's still an alpha, and every platform needs testing again,
Nintendo 64 included. Try it on a game you own and tell us how it went.
Say what worked, what didn't and what was confusing. Reports are how a platform goes from beta to recommended.
What's new
- Its own window. decompdecomp is a desktop app now, not a browser tab. Closing the window asks whether to stop
the helpers or keep them working from the tray. - Agents that keep going. Helpers restart by themselves after a crash, and after a usage limit they wait for it
to reset. You see what each one said and did, and what each model costs per match. Claude Code helpers can run one
model version, such as Opus 4.6 or Sonnet 5.5. - Faster. The app is ready in well under a second, and big projects stay responsive.
- One place for notifications, colour-coded per project, instead of a flood of pop-ups.
- Better first drafts and help for agents. Drafts follow the project's header. Struct layouts are guessed from
the code. Functions that look like ones already matched in your other games are suggested. PS2 games with debug
symbols get their names and types, and PS2 kernel calls are named. - Saves you can move. N64 and PS2 projects save their work as plain files in
progress/, which you can copy
or keep in git, and open again on another computer. - Polish matched code (once half a game matches): helpers rename and tidy matched C, which must still match byte
for byte. - Report a problem is one click from the app, and the app keeps a log to attach.
What changed
decomp connect, decomp mcp, url, share, hostandjoinare gone: agents run inside the app only. On its
first start the app removes its old entries from your agents' settings and says what it removed.- The Source tab is now the Export button.
- PS1, GBA and DS projects from scratch are gone. Their public decomps can still be forked.
- New packages:
.rpm, next to the.deband the AppImage. - The license is now AGPL-3.0.
Updating from 1.0.x (Linux)
Your projects stay where they are. Install the new version as before, start it, then start your agents again once.
