RCC6 Ultimate Observer & Room Server v1.2.0 RC1

This experimental RCC6-L62/SX1262 release contains the Ultimate observer/repeater and all four Room Server profiles. Earlier releases remain available.

Files

  • NeonPocketMC-RCC6-Ultimate-Observer-v1.2.0-rc.1-app.bin — normal update at 0x10000
  • NeonPocketMC-RCC6-Ultimate-Observer-v1.2.0-rc.1-full-recovery-preserves-meshcore-settings.bin — bootloader/partition recovery at 0x0
  • NeonPocketMC-RCC6-Ultimate-Room-Server-{minimal-headless|minimal-tft|full-headless|full-tft}-v1.2.0-rc.1-{app|full-recovery-preserves-meshcore-settings}.bin
  • NeonPocketMC-RCC6-Ultimate-Server-v1.2.0-rc.1-configurator.zip — Windows/Linux guided USB setup for the observer and full Room Server profiles
  • SHA256SUMS.txt and the exact source/licenses bundle

Never erase the whole chip. Both supplied firmware images stop before the SPIFFS data partition.

What is new

  • A rebuilt RCC6 Ultimate dashboard with Overview, Mesh Map, Radio, MQTT, Network, and Console areas. The full Room Server profiles use the same dashboard with room-client and post metrics; the observer-only mesh map is hidden there.
  • Operational-load bars for receive rate, transmit rate, and TX/RX channel airtime.
  • Per-broker delivery bars with success/error counts alongside the existing detailed slot state.
  • An offline map of directly heard repeater adverts carrying valid coordinates. Unlocated repeaters remain listed; the UI never guesses a position.
  • Advertised repeater names and coordinates are retained in the 50-entry in-memory neighbor table for the dashboard. They are not written to identity/contact storage.
  • Human-facing labels and descriptions replace implementation-heavy product copy.

The firmware uses official MeshCore 1.17.0 plus the relevant post-release SX126x boosted-RX-gain persistence fix. MQTT remains observation-only: broker traffic is not injected into the mesh.

Release proof

  • exact source/tag: bbcfb956464101b37c6b50a1cc0cddccdb8fb8b3
  • exact-main observer build and tests: run 31579775201
  • exact-main four-profile Room Server matrix: run 31579775190
  • all five application/recovery pairs, the setup package, exact source/licenses, and aggregate manifest verified before publication
  • the repository gallery contains live browser captures from the connected RCC6 candidate; private credentials and precise location are excluded

The observer defaults to three-byte packet hashes and the preferred public brokers mqtt1.meshcore.ca and mqtt2.meshcore.ca; every other upstream-compatible broker remains selectable or configurable.

NeonPocketMC RCC6 Server 1.1 RC2

Experimental RCC6-only repeater-observer and Room Server firmware.

RX-gain hotfix

  • Backports the exact six-file fix from upstream MeshCore PR #3158 / commit 6f491f30332226a57291cce6c7c3864e931b374d.
  • Preserves the configured boosted-RX-gain setting after RadioLib radio resets instead of reverting to the compiled default.
  • Includes no unrelated MeshCore dev changes. Upstream has not published an official 1.17.1 tag; this is MeshCore 1.17.0 plus that exact fix.

Included profiles: Wi-Fi/MQTT repeater-observer and Room Server minimal/full × headless/TFT, plus the Windows/Linux configurator. Full profiles include the authenticated Web dashboard and one-way MQTT observation. Device adverts default to 3-byte path hashes.

Exact product source: 7c05e034fef5f6b2351f9c0613177f0a88b59370. Exact-main observer and all Room Server matrices passed in Actions runs 31434949438 and 31434949696.

Use an -app.bin file at 0x10000 for normal updates. Use the matching full-recovery image at 0x0 only for bootloader or partition recovery. Do not erase flash; identity, settings, and SPIFFS data are outside these images. Change the default admin and Room Server guest passwords before deployment.

These hotfix images are CI-qualified but were not re-flashed during this release pass. This remains a prerelease.

NeonPocketMC RCC6 Server v1.1.0 RC1

Experimental RCC6-only release from exact source commit 2efa930eab5dd83b5d58641876f8f04ca7c611b8.

  • Dedicated Wi-Fi/MQTT repeater-observer.
  • Room Server in minimal/full and headless/TFT profiles.
  • Full profiles add the authenticated Web dashboard and one-way MQTT observation.
  • Full TFT uses an exact-color indexed framebuffer and retains the delayed 32 KB runtime heap gate.
  • One Windows/Linux configurator supports the observer and full Room Server profiles.
  • All device adverts default to 3-byte path hashes.

Minimal profiles use USB CLI and intentionally contain no Wi-Fi, Web, or MQTT stack.

Exact-main verification: Room Server workflow 31335139962; observer workflow 31335140012; both succeeded.

@n30nex n30nex released this 09 Aug 17:29

Initial experimental RCC6 MQTT repeater release.

Included

  • Headless Heltec RCC6-L62/SX1262 target.
  • MeshCore 1.17.0 repeater behavior.
  • Agessaman MQTT observer production source at b744b42aabb454b277fe133214c7d93d23da484b.
  • First-boot Wi-Fi configuration portal.
  • 34 built-in MQTT broker presets.
  • Default active brokers meshcore-ca-1 (mqtt1.meshcore.ca) and meshcore-ca-2 (mqtt2.meshcore.ca).
  • Application-update and full-recovery images with checksums.

Hardware smoke completed

The exact tagged app image was flashed app-only to the RCC6 test unit. The chip verified the write hash, booted without a reset loop, initialized the SX1262, preserved the existing MeshCore data partition, exposed the serial CLI, started the first-boot WebConfig portal, and reported both Canadian MQTT defaults.

Still experimental

Actual Wi-Fi association, live MQTT publication to both default brokers, long-idle stability, and end-to-end LoRa observer receipts remain unclaimed. RC1 stays marked as a prerelease.
