This release does not automatically migrate ASPECT versions, does not rewrite paper PRMs, and does not silently change geometry, boundary velocities, rheology, temperature, composition fields, gravity, dimension, or timescale.

Guardrails

Aspect_Yuan does not guarantee universal compatibility across ASPECT versions. For paper reproduction, exact paper version, commit, or container remains preferred whenever known. This release does not implement automatic PRM migration and does not silently modify paper models.

Aspect_Yuan.skill v0.3.0 - Stable Teaching Release

This release focuses on making the first installation and first beginner ASPECT workflow reliable for geologists.

Supported

• GitHub clone based installation.
• Codex skill installation with SKILL.md and agents/openai.yaml.
• Basic YAML config loading without requiring PyYAML for bundled examples/templates.
• Beginner model generation for:
  • subduction
  • mantle_convection
  • rift
• Packaged model template configs under templates/models/*/config.yaml.
• Install smoke test via scripts/install_smoke.sh.
• Real ASPECT beginner subduction smoke when --aspect-bin /path/to/aspect is provided.
• No developer-specific local path assumptions in normal usage.

Validation

Validated from a fresh GitHub clone:

scripts/install_smoke.sh --aspect-bin /path/to/aspect

The smoke test covers CLI startup, environment discovery, packaged template configs, beginner model generation, unit tests, static validation, evals, and optional real ASPECT subduction smoke.

Boundaries

This release does not claim full automatic paper reproduction. Paper reproduction remains a planned MVP for v0.4 and should still be handled by inspecting the paper code, README, Dockerfile, PRM files, plugins, and ASPECT version evidence before changing any model.
