Data Usage Tracker 3.4.1
The Android app now catches a mistyped dashboard address before saving it.
Changed
-
Android app 1.4.1 checks the dashboard address before saving it. It used to accept anything:
http:192.168.1.20:7843, with the//forgotten on a phone keyboard, was saved, and every sync then failed without pointing at the address. Save and test, Sync now and Full resync now refuse a malformed address, keep the last working one, and say on the field what is wrong and what it should read. For example: Missing "//" after "http:". It should read http://192.168.1.20:7843.It catches a missing
//or:, nohttp://at all, an unsupported scheme (htttp://,ftp://), a missing, non-numeric or out-of-range port, a path or?queryon the end, auser@part, and spaces. Background syncs check an address saved by an older version the same way and report the problem in the status line. When the connection test fails on an address with no port, the message adds that the dashboard listens on 7843.
Upgrading
The dashboard is unchanged apart from the version number; git pull is enough.
On each phone running 1.3 or 1.4, install data-usage-reporter-1.4.1.apk over it; settings and sync state are kept. On Xiaomi phones adb install is refused unless Developer options → Install via USB is on, so download the APK on the phone and open it from the file manager instead.
A phone still on 1.2 has to uninstall it first, because 1.2 was signed with a different key. It then reports under a new device id; see the 3.4.0 notes for npm run android:merge, which folds the old entry into the new one.
Android app
data-usage-reporter-1.4.1.apk is Data Usage Reporter 1.4.1 (versionCode 6, Android 8.0+), built from this release's android/ source and signed with the project's release key:
