Installation

  1. Download Dictly-v1.4.1-apple-silicon.zip
  2. Extract the zip file
  3. Remove quarantine: xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine Dictly.app
  4. Move Dictly.app to your Applications folder
  5. Launch Dictly and grant permissions when prompted
  6. Choose transcription provider in settings
  7. Start dictating with fn key!

Requirements

  • For On-Device Transcription: macOS 14.0+ (Parakeet) or macOS 26.0+ (Apple)
  • For Cloud APIs: macOS 15.0+, API key (Groq or OpenAI)
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) Mac recommended for best performance

Usage

  • Basic dictation: Hold fn key → speak → release
  • AI enhancement: Hold fn + shift → speak → release
