Shuttle 1.0.0
Shuttle 1.0.0
A modern SSH address book for your macOS menu bar.
IMPORTANT — READ BEFORE INSTALLING
Shuttle is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate (that program costs $99/yr). macOS will block the app on first launch and may flag it as damaged or unverifiable. This does not mean the app is harmful. Follow the steps below and it will run fine.
Getting Past macOS Security (Gatekeeper & Sequoia)
Step 1 — Remove the quarantine flag
After unzipping, open Terminal and run this command before doing anything else:
```bash
xattr -cr /Applications/Shuttle.app
```
This strips the quarantine attribute macOS attaches to every file downloaded from the internet. It is the cleanest and most reliable fix — no repeated prompts, no loops.
Step 2 — First launch
Right-click Shuttle.app → Open. Do not double-click it. macOS will show a warning dialog with an Open button. Click it. You will only need to do this once.
Step 3 — If macOS says "Apple cannot verify" or "app is damaged"
This is Gatekeeper. Run the xattr command in Step 1 if you haven't already, then try right-click → Open again. If you still get a block:
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Scroll down — you will see a message about Shuttle being blocked
- Click Open Anyway
- Enter your password if prompted
Step 4 — Sequoia "App Management" prompt
macOS Sequoia added a new permission called App Management that can appear when apps launch other applications (like your terminal). If you see a Privacy & Security alert about Shuttle being prevented from modifying other apps:
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → App Management
- Find Shuttle in the list and toggle it on
- If the toggle turns itself back off — run the
xattrcommand from Step 1, then toggle it on again. The quarantine flag causes this loop.
