@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 22:48

ur-tones v0.2.0: PSBTs, seeds and other URs as telephone tones (DTMF), by cable or through the air. Draft format v0 — it may still change (the format and the C library are unchanged since v0.1.0).

New since v0.1.0

  • A new look for the web tool: the grey-blue of a desk phone, a signal teal, the key being played lit in amber; the settings on the left, the live panel always in view; a lamp that says when the microphone is really listening.
  • A keypad on the start page: the 16 DTMF keys with their row and column frequencies — press one to hear the two tones it is made of.
  • Still a single file that cannot connect anywhere (Content-Security-Policy).

In the zip

  • ur-tones.html — the web tool (English/Spanish): send and listen, PIN made up or typed, the seed's fingerprint on both sides. Open it on an offline computer.
  • SPEC.md — the specification.
  • c/ — the C99 library for small devices (no malloc, no floating point), as used by NDS-Signer on the Nintendo DSi.

Verify before opening it: sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS (macOS: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS). The zip is reproducible: python3 tools/bundle.py v0.2.0 from this tag gives the same bytes.

Test seeds and testnet only.

First release of ur-tones: PSBTs, seeds and other URs as telephone tones (DTMF), by cable or through the air. Draft format v0 — it may still change.

In the zip

  • ur-tones.html — the web tool (English/Spanish): send and listen, PIN made up or typed, the seed's fingerprint on both sides. A single file that cannot connect anywhere (Content-Security-Policy).

The zip is reproducible: python3 tools/bundle.py v0.1.0 from this tag gives the same bytes.

Tested with NDS-Signer on a DSi: seeds with and without a PIN, and a PSBT from Sparrow, through the air at cable pace, with background noise. Test seeds and testnet only.
